My map guy finally closed his shop w/o warning and now I'm up the preverbial creek. Where might some of you reccommend I go to find a good library of stae topo maps. And don't sy the land department... they charge like $20 per map. I used to get them laminated from my guy at $6 each. Let me know!

Thanks,
Branden

Dunno about if they are good sources, just thought I'd mention: Wide World of Maps and Sports Chalet... Isn't there a hiking shop in Phx at Cave Creek and Thunderbird? Don't know the name but seem to remember seeing something there. Kinda rundown looking place.

I print my own via USA Photo Maps http://www.jdmcox.com/

Awesome program - I've got most of the state downloaded at 1:25,000 detail.

Best of all it's a FREEBEE!

I was actually just surfing UPM about 2 minutes ago. I've never printed maps from there though. How would one go about doing that?

Howdy! There is a map store in the front of the BLM office downtown, and they carry every map of Arizona that has been printed. They also can custom make any map to any scale . They can include roads and trails, land ownership, topo, vegitation, mineral studies, and mining claims, just to name a few. I have been there numerous times, and I don't think the prices are that bad. They can also validate your parking stub for the lot around the corner from them. AzLCA had them do a club presentation a few years ago, and they even handed out all kinds of freebies. I won a free copy of "Arizona Backroads & 4-wheel Drive Trails"!! Kool. John

msahr, thats the hiking shack. actually moved next door in a nice building bout 6 yrs ago. cave creek 1/2 mi south of cactus/t-bird.

You can save files on screen in *.JPG format - as I recall it's called BigJPG or something similar - don't have the software here at work.

land department $5.50
wide world of maps, at least $7.50

laminated  not at the land department

both most complete in my experience, though

AZ hiking shack is real hit and miss on what they have; I don't go there for maps - as a matter of fact, I found them more expensive on EVERYTHING that they carry - rip off

My favorite is mytopo.com

They have a pretty good program, and you can customize them how you please. I had one printed of the Wind River range which covers portions of 6 maps, but they are all on one waterproof page for less than what I would have paid individually.

I would have swore that the Land Department was in the $20 range, but I may be mistaken. Might have to take another trip tomorrow.

I am at Central and Thomas...call me if you make the trip. I'd like to pay a visit too...

world of maps southern and longmore ? north of the street near mall. think its longmore the road that comes out by the mazda dealer on broadway,I have about 20 of them
think it was 7 each 1 for laminate. They have the whole state

Summit Hut on Speedway...in Tucson:flipoff2:

http://mapexp.com/

has all the maps of USGS (or access to).

AZ state land department has ownership maps and ag use maps which are very good- better than BLM, with regular updates (essentially BLM maps split east and west with better detail)
---they were to be online by now, but you know how things work

most forest are out of date--roads etc.

I have x-map for computer, very good but $$$

....I know all this because I am a Relator who sells land-ranches-farms in az and sonora...
