Well, that’s a small surprise… when @cruisematt was assembling the new air intake pieces, he discovered that the AFM isn’t actually the stock piece and is likely from a Toyota Corolla or the like, which explains why there were non-stock pieces making up the air intake.

That being said, he’s gonna assemble it with a spacer piece that will ensure there aren’t any leaks since the Diameter of the OEM pieces is a bit larger than the current AFM will allow…

Getting closer…

Another view of the H55f crossmember with some more structure… I know that @cruisematt is going to offer this crossmember as part of a kit he’s putting together for this swap since it’s such a popular swap for FJ62s and a more elegant solution to the other options of either building your own or finding an FJ60 crossmember to modify…

Also the carpets going back in which is a good sign 😻

Some odds and ends as we wrap up her time with @cruisermatt … replaced a heater hose that appeared to be on its way out 🙏🏾 and got the crossmember buttoned up and pretty with some paint…

Hopefully he’s gonna get his test miles on ol girl over the next week to make sure it’s all working like it should and then time to find a shipper to get her home!!

Alright… some updates…

I finally, after dealing with a couple shippers that bagged at the last minute, found someone on Facebook on the Land Cruiser Marketplace page (among LOTS of keyboard warriors) that posted my TLC on the central booking system for the price I wanted to pay and 2 hrs later I had a shipper lined up… didn’t ask for a tip, didn’t get a cut, just thought he could help and boy did he.

Anyways, my rig got dropped off from Winter Park with its time with @cruisermatt yesterday morning.

So I gotta say something about @cruisermatt … I haven’t met the dude in person… but I trust him. He says what he’s gonna do and he does it. He’s always lookin out for his customers’ best interests, he is always communicative, he sends a bunch of progress pictures along the way… I’m saying… if he has the opportunity to find/employ a larger team of capable folks that he can train or that come to the table with TLC experience, he’s gonna have a giant footprint here in the Southeast. I can’t sing his praises enough. With all of the half-ass, unskilled, unmotivated people that there are working in every form of retail or service these days, I can certainly appreciate what @cruisermatt brings to the table. OK, enough of that shiz… onto the pictures and my thoughts!!!

First thing I did, like literally after I took a 5-mile trip to make sure I remember how to drive stick, was go to a local tire shop to get my tires mounted and balanced on my 70-series wheels and get em put on the LC!!

I won’t get into how the shop scratched the &$?@ outta my BRAND NEW IN THE BOX wheels while balancing (4 of 5 of them have big scratches - sending pics and complaint to corporate tomorrow) but they’re on the car and I can do a little driving…

One thing we didn’t have time to get totally sorted was my stumble that happens intermittently… @cruisermatt checked a few more items off the list (fuel injector plugs, testing AFM, replacing intake tubes) and confirmed perfect fuel pressure and vacuum, so we really think it’s electrical, and I have a set of @Fourrunner ground/power wires along with a @ToyotaMatt fusible link…

So I wanted to get those on before I drove too much (along with a new battery)

Also went ahead and cleaned the crud out of all of the alternator connections, and verified 14v coming from the alternator at idle and the battery (using all of the new grounds) show 13.84v so maybe this is it.

Drove her about 30 miles this afternoon, around and haven’t noticed a stumble… so fingers crossed we’re getting there.

The h55f is great. So much more interesting to drive, albeit, you have to focus on the 33 old vehicle part still (maybe a little more now)… I got used to driving the 2022 Outback Wilderness, so I need to update all of my expectations!!!

More updates tomorrow and basically anytime I have free time, I have a lot of parts to install, some of the first ones being new headlights, side markers, wiper motor, 4Runner wipers, and a whole stereo setup sitting in the garage… LFG!!!

That voltage at idle is great. It was 12.0 -12.2 ish before.

I wanted to use it, but there wasn’t a provision for the new starter positive cable so we pivoted to the batter terminal supplied in @Fourrunner ’s kit

please Elaborate on " but there wasn’t a provision for the new starter positive cable " 🤔

thanks ,

In todays episode of “where did all the money go and what are all of these boxes??”
🐒 Some of @ToyotaMatt Side markers and boy are they sexy
🐒 One Stone Armrests - this purchase clearly i was in a state where I could use the drink holders, probably both of them.
🐒 70 series visors on 62 hangers - so much better
🐒 Replacement rear view mirror

I have a box of all of the handles, rear view middle trim piece, new dome light plastic, so much shiz on this round of stuff…

I’m also cleaning my headliner with Folex and replacing things as I go, so it’s slow but it’s happening.

Soooo RE: my stumbling issue… It’s still a thing. So it wasn’t/isn’t due to the fusible link or the major body/engine grounds. I know it’s still a thing because on the lunch drive to grab some food, it showed it’s head… also another notable item… we’re not starting on the first turn of the starter… not even the 2nd or 3rd… so maybe that’s something to keep in mind.

🤮 I did steal an AFM from a 93 Camry at the Pull-a-part, and since that’s easy to swap out, I may clean it up and just give it a shot. My AFM checks all of the boxes and tests, but maybe it’s something else… @cruisermatt already replaced the pigtail/plug and everything around the AFM…
🤮 I need to add a more firm cushion to my list for the driver’s seat because I’m short (5’4”) and saggy cushion just isn’t comfortable seating position for me… I need to look back for the thread about the alternate Dorman seat cushion *that doesn’t cost $500+
🤮 I need to do my tune up, I have all OEM injectors, cap, rotor, etc sitting in a box

Tomorrow mornings plan… maybe tonight if I can’t wait. Get this guy cleaned up and stuff in the 62 and see if it works 🤷🏾‍♂️

The hesitation and stumbling really makes the driving part not as fun as I’m certain many 62 owners have experienced.
