I talked to one of our Terps (interpreters) and he said his cousin works at a Toyota place in Baghdad. He is getting a few days off and he is going to see if his cousin can get them and what kind of price we are looking at. Are there any other cool Parts Mr. T doesnt want us Americans to have? I will post as soon as I find out. These are something I shouldnt have a problem getting through customs and mailing from the Army Post Office (APO)

Please do post back with your findings...

Not that you said you would get them for us. :hillbilly:

Here in Slovenia we can get all the parts no problem if we provide part numbers. So if you guys are interested I can check the price here. But i think they will not come cheap as we have way higher prices as you guys. Will check and report back and then I can send them to one of you. If someone is interested ofcourse... Regards, Miha

Part numbers listed earlier in the thread. Yes, we would be interested. ;)

Maybe gotmud can convince Mr. T do stock these like he did with the snorkel.

You read my mind. Working on it as of 7am this morning.:D

This place rocks...

*if* the Toyota dealer is open today (and I hope that they are!) I need to go buy a knuckle stud and will check to see if these steps are available down here. Keep your fingers crossed, 3 days before xmas, most of Costa Rica is on vacation

If these are available in C.R. I could bring these back to the states for people at the end of January. I will have plenty of baggage space being that I bring tons of stuff down there and come home almost empty handed.

Last time I was down there, the dealership said they couldn't even get injectors for my 40. I ended up getting them from a injector place on Uruka St. I know the dealership could get them, but they said no. I hope you have better luck with them. Do you have a parts person down there that you deal with on a regular basis? If so, I would like his / her name for a future reference.

I used to live in Nosara just a little to the south of you. Now I spend time down in Golfito. If you are ever in that area send me a PM and maybe we can hook up. I have some awesome trails on my property that you can try and conquer. My locked and lifted BJ-40 has yet to make it to the top of some. Maybe your 80 would have better luck.

Oh, and you could surf Pavones if you are lucky to catch a day that it is kickin.

maybe we'll make a road trip down your direction...

When are you coming down next?

I called the dealer today (nobody special, just Repuestos in Liberia) and was dismayed to learn that they do have knuckle studs (in San Jose, arrive by tomorrow) but there are no knuckle stud nuts in Costa Rica. There are also no birfield c-clips in Costa Rica. Both due to arrive by end of January. Rats.

I didn't ask about the steps yet- will call back later to request the knuckle studs (otherwise they'll run out by the time the nuts get here). Feeling frustrated.

I am looking to come back down by the end of January, probably the last week. I know you need the parts now but if you can wait I can bring them down for you. That way you definitely have them. I know Tico time can be a bitch. I fly into San Jose so we would have to figure out a way to get them at least close to you. Maybe I could put them on a Sansa/Nature Air flight or you have friends in SJO that I could give them to.

I think the trip from your house to my property is about 10 hours. I don't know if you have ever been down to Golfito but it is very, very lush in flora and fauna.

Do you know where to buy a propane fridge/freezer in SJO? God I hate that city. Maybe one day they will put up street signs.

come on!

Just curious, is there a posting, or topic page with all the cool goodies Toyota makes for the 80's (alitmeter, steps, ect...) that we can't obtain.

I'd love to see all the cool things I can't have.:bang:

I can't imagine there isnt a way to order whatever you'd like from somewhere in the world. With the internet and resources, it boggles my mind things like these cant be sourced......

You can simply do a search on altimeter, rear ac, grab bar:grinpimp:, 2nd-row reclining hinges:grinpimp:, rear ladder:grinpimp:, clear lenses:grinpimp:, Toyota OEM fog lights:grinpimp:, OEM window visors:grinpimp:, rear visor:grinpimp:, sunroof visor:grinpimp, etc...

Unlike the rear steps on this thread you can have the above items from a fellow Mudder.

Mot :grinpimp:
