Where did you mount your trailer brake controller?

@200 Custodian, that's what I envisioned, although I've never seen one. I assumed that since Toyota reuses components across the truck line (like the read end, for example), this would be a common part.

I read recently that Toyota is due to release their own integrated tow package, to compete in the US market.

Do you mean releasing one specifically for the Land Cruiser? That would be nice, though unexpected given my vehicle came with a pigtail connector in the glove compartment for wiring up an aftermarket brake controller.

The Tundra integration is nice:

If anyone wants to give it a go, the controller part number is 89547-0C012.

Thanks. It's on my to do list.

That is a nice setup for the Tundra!

Once again this forum rocks! Many thanks to all who shared, I was able to install mine super easily. Placed it on the left side to keep it out of the way of my long leg over the skinny pedal. Clears the hood/fuel latch as well as the 10mm bolt head (which I'll need when I start adding more accessories with in-dash buttons ;))

Awesome, Kevin. That helps me as well because I want to move it to that side and I wasn't certain that the cable would reach. In the meantime I confirmed on the trailer forum that I am part of that heavy duty Velcro works great for securing the trailer brake controller. So I'm going to go that route so that it doesn't hang down quite as far.

You'll have plenty of cable, in fact you'll have excess to zip tie when mounted on the left side.

Edit: I should have stated that I bought the Toyota harness from eTrailer. That combo, at least for me, resulted in plenty of extra cable.

Anyone know what's behind the space above the ashtray? I'd like to consider mounting my brake controller there. I use mine a fair bit and adjust the settings so would like it in Plain view.

Isn't there a airbag behind that panel you velcroed your controller over? If that airbag deploys, it'll blow that brake controller right into your knees. You might want to reconsider where you've placed that.

Yup, and I'd be afraid of hitting it every time entering and exiting the vehicle. There is a perfect spot to the bottom right. That's where I mounted mine. It's completely out of the way and there's plenty of leg/knee room. I can see the display perfectly through the steering wheel.

A lot depends on your body and your seating position. The bottom right didn't work for me. I was hitting it all the time. I don't hit it where it is now. Yeah, if I have an accident while pulling my trailer and the airbag deploys that could be a problem.

The Tundra Pigtail is NOT the same as the LC200
False. I actually did this with my tundra and my 200. Literally took the pigtail out of the receptacle in my tundra and plugged it directly into my 2011. Works fantastic, you're mistaken. Toyota has used the same trailer pigtail connector for YEARS across their truck line.

When I did my install on my 2017 200, i actually bought a Tundra pigtail to connect to the RedArc controller. The Tundra pigtail was rectangle. I had to source a general pigtail for Toyota and that was Square. Def a difference.
