If you tow a braked travel trailer, where did you decide to mount your brake controller? I need to figure this out and I'm looking for advice.

I put mine here.

I put mine on the same side as @9780LC, but a little higher up on the panel. It stay out of the way of my legs. Sorry, no photo.

Mine is on the left side. Mounted, it seems to tilt nose-down slightly. Works fine and is never in the way, though if I need to adjust it then I have to lean way down to reach it.

General question to anyone using these: how critical is it to mount them level?

I haven't installed my Prodigy yet, but I seem to remember the instructions talking about that.

According to the instructions, front-to-back they can be up to 70 degrees off horizontal, so pointed upwards or downwards is generally fine. They're not supposed to be tilted left-to-right.

Same with mine and same controller. I found that anywhere else is just in the way. It clears the knee airbags and does not touch my leg and I'm pretty tall.

Thanks, Everyone. I have the same controller as BTUMAN. I mounted it on the right side but maybe a bit higher than I should have. My shin just below my knee bumps it from time to time. I see that 9780LC has it considerably lower. I may lower it as well.

EDIT: decided I don't like this location and I never take the controller out for as often as I tow. Relocated to center console

I just mounted my P3 in my LX570. I personally prefer my controllers to mounted up higher, for the purpose of having the manual brake lever be readily accessible for emergency situations or sway. At the same time, I can't stand a grossly mounted eyesore, especially in an LX.

The compromise I came up with is a provision where I can easily mount it in the coin tray when needed, and unmounted and put away in the glovebox otherwise. Not sure if this tray, to the left of the steering wheel is found in the LC. Only need a philips screwdriver (which I always have in the car) to set mine up. I drilled a single hole to the side of the tray, one size smaller than the screw (that came with the P3) , so it captures the screw at all times. I leave the screw in place when unmounted. And just thread it out/in to secure the P3 when needed. I preferred not to cut the tray to route the wire, but I just snake the wire up to the controller through the dash release and the wire stay put nicely. Otherties, the wire is just tucked up behind the dash.

No photo, but I mounted our Prodigy on the top of the center dash with a velcro pad. Ran the cable (wrapped in black) up through the leather-ish panel on the left side of the nav/audio (the one shown to the right of BTUMAN's controller above). It's not the most elegant installation, but when not in use I simply disconnect the controller and store it in the glove box, then stuff the cable behind that panel so it's completely out of sight.

The guy at my trailer shop warned against mounting down low in the 200 series because of the knee airbags. Not sure about the validity of his concern, but being tall I was ok to not have it near my knees.

Funny you mention knee airbags, because that was my first thought when I saw that photo. -Eondered if it would be struck by the airbag. That would NOT be good.

Is that stable enough? I think my brake controller uses inertia and if the controller was wobbly on the Velcro then maybe that works be an issue?

It's been plenty stable, I think the key is a large, high quality patch of velcro. I haven't noticed any wobbling or other movement, even over washboard.

Me too. Tekonsha P3.

I apologize for hijacking this thread, but has anyone installed, or had installed, a factory controller. Or is the factory controller actually an aftermarket dealer option?

Didn't know there was such a thing? Intrigued to learn more.

+1 - I've never seen or heard of a factory controller. More info?

I've searched high and low for a factory option, but have only found an OE option for the Tundra.

This seems to be a more elegant solution than having a brick affixed to the dash:
