Anybody know what type of plug is needed and where I can get it for this?

That port is 3/8NPT.

<insert pimping>
I have the following for sale:
1/4NPT plugs for AIR ports, some intake manifolds;
3/8NPt allen plugs for the t-stat housing;
1/8NPT for some intake manifolds, brake pressure switches.
<end pimping>

HA nice! I actually need to plug all the holes in my manifold too. I am pretty sure that the other holes in my manifold are not NPT with the exception of 1. I have pretty much jammed brass NPT plugs that I got at the local hardware into the holes for now. If you had those too I would order from you right now. It's a 79 2f intake manifold. You can see pics of it on my buildup thread.

While we are on the subject of plugging. Anybody know anything about the 3 circled in red below. The one in green is the only one that is NPT.

The small holes in the intake are actually 1/8BSPT, which is slightly smaller than 1/8NPT. I run the 1/8NPT tap in the holes a few extra turns, then thread in the 1/8NPT allen plug(s).

The larger hole in the 79 intake manifold is 1/4NPT.

In order from F to R:
1st red hole: 1/4NPT
2nd red hole: 1/8BSPT
3rd green hole: 3/8NPT
4th read hole: 1/8BSPT

You planning on cutting that pipe once the engine is installed. Looks like it will be dragging on the ground.

Jeremy

That's just a hack I put together for the test stand. It is very poorly welded by me, but it will work for now. If MAF had a Y pipe that worked on a 71 frame I would have bought it. As it stands now they only have a Y pipe for a 76+(??) with a cadalytic converter and a full system back to the tail pipe for the early models. Plus the last I checked the only thing that they have in stock are these headers, none of the other overpriced stuff they offer that goes with these headers is in stock. I intend on taking it to a local shop and let them do the exhaust work when I have it in the truck.

1st red hole: 1/4NPT

I will have to double check that tonight... something is screwy if that is the case because I am pretty sure I put a 1/4 NPT in there and it just didn't seem right.

I think the hole in the t-stat top is BSPT. I tried a 3/8 npt gm sender and no joy.

Oh great, after I went and wrenched a steel 3/8 npt in there... I will have to pull it out tomorrow and see if I completely trashed the threads. :bang:

I actually thought that getting a 1/8NPT around here was going to be a nightmare... walked into the local hardware store on my way home from work and not expecting them to have it... bingo they did... cost me all of 2 bucks. I used it on the 2 in the manifold and the 1 in the bolt for the original oil sensor. You saved me a bundle of money. I have some brass ones in all the holes now temporarily, but I will give you a ring about getting allen head ones to replace them.

FJ40Jim,

What is supposed to go in the hole with the green circle?

My vehicle came desmogged and the PO put a BVSV in the whole. From what I can tell from the Toyota Emissions FSM, I don't see any emissions parts going there. So that leaves the question of what DOES go there?

I am needing to put the emissions back on to register my vehicle in Utah so I need to know if I am missing something.

Thanks,

Tom

ON MY 71 "F" motor that spot is where the vacuum supply for brake booster is coming from.

Assuming it's an 82 2F, there is an allen plug in there. Other years/markets could pull vac out of the side for vac shift t-case or power brake booster.

FJ40Jim,

Thanks for the answer to my question. Sorry, it is an "82 2F. Based on what you have told me, I will replacing the BVSV with a plug.
