I guess this is more of a general vehicle question, but my 1980 BJ 40 claims to have 170,000 K's on it.
I'm not convinced, the original key is almost worn blank and slips out of ignition in any position.

Do you guys have any CSI tricks to estimate actual miles/k's on a LandCruiser?

I've had brass keys get like that in 50,000 kms. Is it an original or a copy? Mine came with a worn out copy at 135,000 miles... which isn't that much more, especially considering it was at least the second key.

Seat condition? Pedal condition? Door strikers? Hinges? How clean are the rockers under the valve covers?

When you have a 37 year old vehicle, it sort of doesn't matter. The condition and how well it has been maintained make a bigger difference. Well maintained these trucks will go forever... neglected they're not going to last as long. I'd not worry about it too much.

Is it your rig, or one you're looking to buy?

Thanks for the info. The odometer reads 77,000. The PO said he bought it with 55,000 and said it had been around once, hence 177,000.
The pedals look not bad, the whole truck has been partially restored so it's hard to tell. Motor work has been done too. I will take more pics and we can play the guessing game. It drives really straight, I drove it on the highway for 3 hours to get to our cabin.
