Anyone interested?

My good buddy (and fellow MUDder) Lovey is coming into town for the weekend to hang out and we're going to SAF on Sunday afternoon for the Phil Lesh and Friends concert at Paolo Soleri (sp?)?

I figured an early AM run--I'm open to anything really--the trail Ash and I went on a couple of weeks ago up in that area was really fun and considering we need to be in SAF in the afternoon, seems like a logical logistical choice.

:grinpimp:

Anyone interested?

Suggestions?

Cheers.

Looking foward to coming out West.
Hope to meet some of you HDC folk.

oh, wait was this the tank trap trail?

Well, no, it's the one with the huge sinkhole at the lunch spot overlooking all of SAF--beautiful lunch spot and a really natural geological formation.....the sinkhole that is.

It get pretty tight Ron--I'm not trying to discourage you because I really like seeing a 100 series used well, it's just that you might have to chop a few trees down.....

Evan can attest to the scratching his truck took on the trail....

Well, I am thinking I am out if this is the trail.. I don't think I would take a chance on mutually assured destruction. Scratches leads to dents. Dents lead to sleeping on the couch. Sleeping on the couch leads to the darkside.

Definitely when its paid off, and she gets used to the damage.

Maybe we can get out soon somewhere locally when everyone else is living it up in Moab.

That's exactly the way it starts...if anyone believes it, my truck used to look like this:

I will say, since I received the bumper damage a couple weeks ago, she is definitely on board with a real bumper at some point, because she doesn't want to drive around in a hoopty-mobile.

No armor of any kind on my faux-Hilux, but any chance your proposed trail could handle the weak IFS on my '91? I'm not ready to let it get dented just yet (waiting for the HJ to get running, because that's when the search for a 4-door Hilux body begins...), but the minor paint scratch and junk won't be it's first.

I'm going to be up in Chama on Saturday, followed by nearly a week off. So I was thinking of either driving to Osier, Sublette and Lava Tank (following the railroad) or finding something else to do with my time off next month. Either that, or replace the clutch on my sister's pickup. :) Or begin the bodywork on my HJ....

Like I said, I might be up for the 30th in the Santa Fe area...

Onur -

If that's a joke, it's a damn funny one - I laughed out loud. If it's not - condolences!!!

Ron - I agree with Onur's assessment of the sinkhole trail. It's a fun trail, but you will scratch the heck out of your truck. Some of the spots are so tight, I came close to tearing off the fender flares (one on front and one in back), and I've got the scars to prove it. Your 100 is too pretty to start tearing it up...yet!

Nope, that really is what my truck looked like when I orginally bought it.

Hard to believe it looks the way it does today (of course, some of it by no fault of my own... ).

So you in Evan? :grinpimp:

Wow - that truck has seen some changes! But then again, it's a lot more capable now than when you bought it.

I am doubtful that I will be able to make the run on Sunday. We've got Moab the next weekend and I will be working right up until the time I get in the truck to drive to Utah. So I will need the weekend to get prep work done.

Enjoy the concert. It's an awesome venue - out under the stars. But take a poncho just in case. I went to see the Kinks there a hundred years ago (I know - I'm showing my age) and it got rained out. They may or may not stop the show, depending on when it starts to shower. You might also consider a cushion, depending on the sensitivity of your tushy. When I was there, it was basically a series of big concrete steps to sit on. But it is a very cool place for an outdoor concert.

This is a great time of year to go wheeling and to an outdoor show. You guys have a great time!

I want to see pics of the 80 on it's roof. :grinpimp:

I can't wait to see how the Saab transforms......

Not on the roof but this is the best I can come up with on short notice.

This last image reminds me of a scene in the Stephen King move, Christine.
