hi to all,

how many of you still have wheel locks on your truck? do you leave them on when you go wheeling?

I still have mine but that's becuase I'd rather spend $$ on items that make a difference right now. When I change wheels I'll replace them.

Oh, yes I leave them on at all times. Running with only 5 lugs is not a good idea.

for about 2 hours I thought I had lost the key to my factory locks, next day I orders 4 new lug nuts form CDan, locks gone, factory 16" alloys are not as rare and therefore not as valuable as they were in the mid nineties when those locks were installed.

I have yet to hear about stolen wheels on this board, ( it still could happen)
I have read plenty about plenty of problems with the locks and the lost time they create, missing keys, broken keys, broken locks etc

Keep using wheel locks. You can't wheel without wheels. :D

My locks are removed with 1 moved to the spare tyre on the rear carrier to slow someone down just a little. FWIW, the locks won't stop someone that wants those wheels though I agree with Raven that there is NO demand 10+ years since they were new.

I cut a sidewall one afternoon on a tree root and stripped the wheel lock while trying to remove the wheel. I can't imagine what a PITA it would have been if someone hadn't had a socket to pound over the lock to remove it. Got rid of them all soon after that.

The popularity of wheel locks is directly proportional to the number of 450 dollar aluminum wheels you have lost.....:)
