1996 HDJ81, no alarm or fob.

1. F/R (drivers door) locks/unlocks F/R door only with the key.
2. Master lock switch does nothing.
3. Upon slamming the RF door, you can hear all lock actuators activating, but the locks do not lock or unlock (just the actuator noise).
4. F/L (passenger door) lock/unlocks all doors with the key.
5. F/R door was left open this morning and all actuators activated multiple times with no input, but again the locks do not lock or unlock (just the actuator noise).

Any ideas? Based on all the doors being able to be locked from the F/L lock, I'd guess the actuators are still OK. Could potentially be the lock control relay 8598060010 or faulty master switch?? After searching the multiple threads on this I'm stumped.

Have you pulled the master switch out and checked the connections? Sometimes giving the contacts a quick clean and making sure they are securely connected will get them to work. I would think if the relay was bad the passenger side wouldn’t lock and unlock all the doors.

Yeah, first thing I did was take that out and clean it. Maybe it's time for a new one?

It takes two turns or cycles, on driver, first unlocks driver, second unlocks all others. Pass door unlocks all one cycle.

Yeah I have tried that doesn’t work.

I had a similar issue whem I first bought my 97. Ended up being am issue related to an alarm. I removed the alarm system and patched the wires in the driver side kick panel to get it fixed back up. Good luck.

You can hear the motor try to work but it can’t lock or unlock?
Pull the door panel and check to see if the actuator is properly connected to the mechanical rods that lock and unlock the door. Little plastic clips that retain them can easily break. If all looks right and actuator tries and fails to move the arms, likely need a new actuator.

When I slam the drivers door or attempt to lock with master switch, all doors make the “locking” noise but the locks don’t actually lock. Turning drivers key only unlocks drivers door. I’ll be pulling apart the doors soon when I replace the window runs.

Update: When slamming the doors they attempt to lock ONLY with the key in the ignition?
