What's the biggest thing your 80 series has towed?

Show me what you have pulled with your 80 series. I have a 31' airstream (4,850lbs) which I haven't yet had the chance to pull and I want to see what you guys are doing.

legally or towed... i have pulled around a few bulldozers at a friends dirt pit but never went on the road and was in low 4 the whole time. i would think they are about 20K + the trailer. it is flat ground obviously and a struggle.

not with an 80 but once when young and dumber... I pulled a 36ft houseboat with a 1981 datsun diesel pick up... pulled it about 30 miles to the river... it towed fine @ 40 @ 42mph it start lifting the back of the truck and moving it side to side about a foot... parked at the top of the ramp for about an hour with a crowd gathering to see what would happen... when a guy with a BIG truck came up and offered to launch it for us... We kept it in a Slip for the summer... being 20 owning a houseboat with "sleeping quarters" made for a pretty great summer on the river...
I use to tow a 21ft ski boat pretty regularly with a 1996 lx450 and never gave it a second thought...

Pulled overloaded largest U-haul trailer over Vail and Eisenhower pass. 1st gear red line all the way over the passes.
The 80 and trailer were so overloaded that I had to put all my chains on the bumper so I could steer.

towed my non running 80 on a car trailer, double axle with my running 80

My FJ60 on a trailer. (Scary, pre brake controller)
Flat towed my FJ40 filled with crap when moving (not bad really)
M101-a with 3-4K lbs of firewood (short distances mostly offroad)

Pop-up camper is barely tolerable for any great distance at 2500lbs. I would not want any part of your Airstream all day on vacation. But my truck is heavy to begin with and at Colorado altitudes.

Towed a Kubota tractor on a big-ass trailer, 25 miles from dealer to home. It was no sweat for the mighty 3FE, but it would only go 45 mph tops.

It hasn't managed to tow my gf away from me everytime I'm reading mud and she needs to talk. That's the biggest issue

I towed a Tacoma extended cab, 5 people, and a weeks worth of camping and climbing gear (people were in the 80) from Idaho so Salt Lake. I have a 3-FE, and I was able to do 65 on the flatter parts easy, and say above 50 in the passes. Really didn't seem to both the truck much, no affect my already horrible MPGs much. I think most everyone one here will tell you moving something forward isn't really the issue if you are willing to take your time. Stopping the load is a big one, second you can find out pretty quick how squirrelly the back end can get; especially with longer loads.

My boat and trailer (18ft bow rider) - 3500 lbs with hyd brakes. No problem really with 315s and stk gears even going up hills. Even passed several people...

Son's LX towed the P38 to SMORR and switched on the way home. Both rigs approx same weight as the LX did not have the 4x4 Labs rear bumper yet or roof rack. P38 was better suited and did a better job but the LX had no issues. 35's w/ 4.88's

I once towed a Big Tex tandem axle dump trailer with 2 cords of fresh cut silver dollar eucalyptus , 16 ft 14LX model. DON'T RECOMMEND! All was good until I was going up my driveway and lost momentum, 15%+ grade @ 1/10 mile. Then the trailer drug the cruiser back down the hill while I stood on the brakes and shat myself . I had to cut the wheel and put the trailer into a tree to finally stop the runaway caboose before I was pulled across the road and down the side of the mountain.

I hauled my 773 Bobcat on a 24 foot trailer a couple of times with my stock 97, it pulled pretty nice. I didn't have a brake controller so that was sketchy. If i had a controller, for trailer brakes, it really wouldn't have been too bad.
