craigslist What's fair on this one fellas?

First of all, I'm no expert. That said, I've been lurking for a handful of years...so until someone more knowledgeable than me posts up, this will give you lots to think about:

If that rig was for sale on mud, no way it would bring $9000 unless more detailed build/condition info was available, including photos prior to paint to confirm body condition. Also missing is undercarriage pics for rust check, leak check, etc...

With that ad on craigslist, I see it MAYBE going for more in the $5-6000 range, especially if there is a buyer comes along who is not worried about who has done the maintenance/mods/paint.

If shortcuts or poor workmanship are evident, I would even say $3500-4000 or even less may be more reasonable given the length/cost of a to do and redo list.

If the seller had a reputable shop do the work and has receipts and more photos and build info, $9000 may not be outta the question. If an enthusiast/expert performed all the work on that rig and can explain it front to back, including what's currently needed (they all need somethings given their age and price range), then I might be talked up a bit from the $6000.

At the end of the day, price is always gonna be dictated by the buyer's wants/needs and what's available, among other things. Take me for instance, I've been on stand by for the right model, year, condition for almost 2 years now, had a chance to buy one here on mud six months ago and let it go over $1500 difference in asking price and my offer. Now I'm tired of waiting and will probably over pay a bit to beat out other buyers and make sure I actually own one of these things in this lifetime.

Last point, premiums are paid for rigs that have spent time at reputable shops OR were built/cared for by 40 addicts who know their intricacies AND are willing to share what they have done to "her" with potential buyers.

Hope this helps and good luck!

pretty nice rig, IMO, not sure about the $9k, but I would say $7k is fair...

The euro side view mirrors are worth a pretty penny. Gonna buy it?

Looks like the holes are filled for the OEM tire carrier. Just a heads up if you plan on having one...

Where are the tail lights??

Going to look this week. I'm hoping she's as clean as pictures show

Is there a thread like on how to inspect a 40, a checklist if you will..

I'm sure there is one in the FAQ section. Do some searching there.

And take lots of pictures and email them to austinlw@Princeton.edu. I will post then for ya.

Must've been ok...sold her before I could get there. Damn the bad luck

Shucks. That's how it goes some times.

When I got mine, I replied five minutes after it posted and still had to beat people off it with a stick.
