I drive my 80 quite often, say 500-600 miles a month. It’s think it’s the perfect vehicle other than mpg. Everyone’s always saying how slow their 80s are which I don’t really agree with. They’re obviously not fast but how fast are y’all trying to go?? I’ve desired passing power and maybe some more grunt on steep hills but for the most part I can accelerate/cruise just as i need without really wringing it out. I split the rest of my driving time between a Subaru Outback 3.6 and some seasonal summer cars, all of which are faster than the 80 but the performance of the 1fz feels just right for the platform. I’m also a speed limit guy maybe straying +/-5mph. Im on 33s, a 2.5in lift and stock gearing. But I would LOVE to LS swap eventually.

Saw one just like that in a video with nearly a million miles.

I spent $6000 on the transmission at 128k. She shifts swiftly and hard still. Small things like ignition switch, wiper mechanism, seat cushion, I think that’s it. This is not a cult sort of deal. It’s a proven path to economical transportation. In the long run, if you can stick with one vehicle, you are money ahead.

My daily and tow pig.

1993 F250, 7.3 IDI with ATS turbo, 4x4 auto. About the same MPG as my 5-speed swapped 3FE 80, terrible ride quality, terrible turning radius.

It makes fantastic noises though.

Electric cars green! Cars that get 12 mpg bad! But their electric car will not be on the road for hundreds of thousands of miles over decades of use. They will be replaced multiple times with more carbon emissions used than our land cruisers. Not sure if some people look at the big picture. Hey, to each their own.

Cruisers are great for a lot of reasons, but the proposition that a Cruiser will produce less carbon emissions it is life than the average electric vehicle is simply not supported by science.

My spoiled wife drives the 80 Series. I've had my FJ60 torn down to fix a buggered crank nose. Then my 01 Taco went down with a broken clutch fork. So recently I was left driving the drafty 52 Burb to the office every day. Quaint, but cold, and freaking scary to drive in a snowstorm with vacuum wipers that suck... and not in a good way.

I will take this if it's nice out. It has since been repainted and is hiding in the garage until spring. Waiting on the new interior now.

Will occasionally take #1 son's truck to make sure it is running right. He treats it like a rolling trash can sadly.

I don't have a car problem, my wife has an enforcement problem. She has a Volvo XC90 that I never drive.

Carpool a couple of company Mazda 6's most of the time in Kuwait. When home: 2020 H-D Road Glide Limited w/ 131 ci kit, 2013 Avalon or 2014 Lexus LS460L AWD. Might drive the 80 once I get the hg changed or rebuild the engine. New tires might help.
