What this knob is for ?

The "Hand Throttle" is a cable that goes from the dash to the Accelerator pedal, originally designed to keep the engine rpms up in certain situations (no one sitting in the driver's seat to press on the accelerator).

cool videos! The po put one on my truck. Don’t have a pto anything on mine. Can’t fathom what were they thinking when they decided to put it in.

I’ve done some research, some folks use the hand throttle in rough off-road situations to keep a steady throttle…but even that seems very extreme.

Discussion from long ago. Can be used as a crude manual cruise control if your vehicle doesn't have that option, only problem is that it obviously won't disconnect when you step on the brake pedal so you have to be quick to release the knob especially if there's an unexpected stop at speed. Not recommending that practice, just saying it can be done.

Best use case I've seen for hand throttle in an automatic is to bump the idle to increase alternator output during winching, jumping, etc.

Could be the switch to enable the Flux Capacitor?

On a more serious note, it's aftermarket. Start by working out if it has a cable or wires going to it. In either case you'll need to trace them back and see what it's connected to.

Yeah, I need mine to get the windows to roll up on my 80.

12 volt air compressor and winch duty.
Set to 12-1300 RPM for more voltage works like a charm.

You pull that knob out when cars are beeping at you to speed up to at least 60 MPH....

I'm sticking with my old standby:
Cocking cable for a CoAx M240?

Must be under there somewhere, keep looking.

FWIW, I use my hand throttle when airing up (York) and when doing a long winch pull.
It's a "nice to have" option.
Same :p
