BTw...Ryan was a huge help. Stayed til 3:00 am helping me with my punch list. We knocked out 4-5 items. I'm becoming more optimistic that I'll have this rig on the road in time. Here's what remains. Many small things not listed as well

The countdown to the Solid Axel Summit is on. We are just inside 30 days now. I decided to go over to Jimmy's Barn yesterday and lend a hand to try and add another gear to Jimmy's Frankenstein build. We gotta get this Cruiser done before we leave for Colorado next month!

Jimmy was wet sanding doors while I dove in to re-upholster his seats.

Interesting side note... after I skinned some old covers off the driver's seat, I discovered this interesting wear pattern in the foam...

Needless to say, we sourced some other foam from Jimmy's Pic n' Pull and preserved this one to Auction on eBay or sell here on Mud. Anybody interested?

Anybody?

No?

:D

Perfect. Will it work for a 70 series?

To the summit in Colorado? I had not planned on going but maybe I can.

A lot accomplished in the barn last night. Dave brought pizza and his 60 over for us to drool over again and then helped us get the rear seat installed into Jimmy's cruiser. By the end of the night, Jim had two of the doors wet sanded, and in the buffing stage, and all of the seats and carpet installed. No pics unfortunately, we were too busy working and bullsh*tting to take any pics.

We did talk about women quite a bit, so I'll leave this picture I saw on Facebook here for discussion. Haha.

And so what's that mean for me? 'A fully understanding man will let his ex have the child tax credit each season so she can always make modifications on her truck' ??

I almost textd you last night late. Good thing I didn't or I might have interrupted a really special male bonding event.

And
Cody is back!

And he's welding seat rails in Jimmy's Barn today

and for those that did not know, we did get Frankenstein out of the barn and to the SAS. Buttoned up the trans (RMS job) less than 24 hours before heading out to CO. Onur saved me by getting the seal when no one else could on such short notice. Did 3200 miles (CO & WY) on its maiden voyage. Big thanks to Ryan, Jeff, my oldest son and several more for helping to make it happen. Was an awesome time. I was so burned out that I have not even washed the truck since returning. Today was the first time I've driven it since then as well. Kinda nice to be able to focus on other things for a bit :).

Back in Jimmy’s Barn today. Jim was stripping down and scrapping a 60 that for most people would be garbage, but to Jimmy... it’s $25 worth if scrap metal. He is keeping the engine and transplanting it into one of his other 60’s though, so all is not lost.

Cody was at the barn today too. He has been hoarding motors for his day job and he was there picking up and loading a few engines to transplant into some 40 Series Cruisers. Jim helped him load up using the tractor...

While Cody was waiting for the shipping company to arrive, I had him weld in some sheet metal patches to repair some rust I found on my cruiser. I’ll start another thread later on that project.

A huge thank you to Cody for lending his talent to me today and another round of appreciation to Jimmy for letting me use his space and tools! I had fun guys.

@CaptClose it can be a hassle for sure! a lift makes it much more painless though!

Good to speak with you today.

J

Thanks Jason. It was good to speak to you as well. We finished the install. I gotta say, I’m pretty impressed with the Tough Dog Suspension. I think Matt is pretty excited to finally have it on his truck.

Thanks for addressing my concerns about the rear leafs through your call to Ryan. I didn't know the 70 and 60 series share the same rear leaf springs!

Installing the toughdog kit made me regret not doing it sooner. It is a nice kit.

This is a more 80 series related post, but we were in the barn Wednesday working on a H151 transmission rebuild, but it was so cold, we didn’t get much accomplished... here is Jimmy, Mcguire and Cody at the bench dreaming of warmer weather.

Today we are back at it working on Mcguire’s 80 build. The weather is a bit nicer than it was a few days ago. I think we will get more accomplished. Today we have Jeff @fl4031003 in the shop and we are making better progress.
