I picked up a Yakima Showcase 20. Works great. It's my second one since my first one fell when I was trying to use a hoist to store it. It fell 10 feet from the ceiling and 2 hinges broke and the top cracked. Yakima customer service was awesome, I sent them pictures to try to see if they had parts to fix it and they said that the hinges could not be repaired so they gave me a 50% discount on a new one. Now I just store it on a a storage rack I have in the garage. In any case I packed it up for a camping trip recently and it worked out great. I can fit in my 8' garage with it. Easy to mount and remove, takes 5 mins once you have the hooks setup.

I have the Thule Cargo Hitch carrier and a Skybox. I use every bit of space in both boxes on longer trips with the family.

The hitch box is easy to put on and off by myself and much easier to get things in and out of. However it won't fit skis or snowboards so if you had to pick one over the other get the roof box.

  • Carries 13 cubic feet or up to 150lbs of cargo per box

Besides Craigslist and online, what stores stock these Thule or Yakima cargo boxes? Need one for my rig but I'd like to take a look in person.

Rackattack.com and REI. They were 20-25% off just recently. Don't know if they still are.

Heck I was thinking it would be in those places but don't recall seeing them.

Citius. Much appreciated. I was just in REI last week and I should have asked.

If the local REI doesn't have it in stock just order it online and have it shipped to store that way you avoid the shipping cost.

I bought my Thule Evolution last year at the Sears in South Park Mall. I think it was on sale for $275 online and I picked it up in store the same day. It was cheaper online than the listed price in the store. I have used it on my RX but not the 100 yet. It performed well on the trips I have taken.

Ah. Well I guess the settles that...

Excellent. ;-)

Put your hands on one and then decide. I bought mine in 1999 and it's only now in need of a new gel coat due to having been mounted on a truck that was parked outside in the Utah sun for a decade. A few bucks thrown at it and it'll be ready for another decade of abuse.

Getting ready for an upcoming trip and strapped my new Thule Evolution roof top box on.

Was very surprised to be able to just fit her in the garage!!! On 33 tires, but AHC proved its versatility again, sneaking just under the garage door.

Roof cargo box wasn't enough for the 4 adults and 4 kiddos (w/carseats!#@).

So added in a hitch cargo carrier with waterproof bag for another 15 cu ft for cooler, stroller, cases of water, etc. Forgot to grab pics of it deployed but it worked great. Unlike the roof cargo box, it stays in the slipstream and is easier to access. Stows away nicely after reaching our destination.
