What org color was the frame and axles on a fj40

You want a chassis or satin black to come as close as possible to the original sheen of the frame and stuff. It looks to me to be the exact same color as the frames on the new ones, if you need a reference.

I'm just using DP90LF black primer for my frame and axles. It's real close, and I'd be spraying it anyway.

the paint was a gloss black from the factory no Joke everyone seems to think it is flat or satin the origional coat was not very well uv protected so over time it would fade:) buy a new steering arm or drag link from Toyota and you can see for yourself
 
I just started a frame-off restoration of my '78 40, and I have found areas of original frame paint to be a light gloss. Definitely not a matte finish. I'll try to take some photos and post. The areas are small....but telling. Hope this helps.
 
my frame for my 1970 was a shiney one stage black with a slight dark blue haze to it.
