What model Hi-Lift Jack to get

Yeah, that last pic is a non starter. I guess I will need to go with mounts on the FR rack.

Yea, unfortunately it is pretty high. I would rather keep it in the back, but I am afraid I will forget about the height and get hung on something... The 60inch is needed for the Hundy, but hard to transport. Whenever I scrounge up funds for the FR rack, it along with the shovel and ax will be up top. Just have to manage the room for the roof top tent, or maybe I'll just buy an adventure trailer with my allowance :flipoff2:

I bought the 48" "Extreme" to get the extra attachment for winching/clamping -- which you can buy seperately anyway and regretted not getting the 60". After one round of using it as a recovery device I decided to get the 60" replacement bar.

The day will come when you need to use it as a winch (even if you also have an electric winch) and that extra foot is going to be very welcome. We had to re-rig my Hi-Lift four times and it probably would have only been two-three with the 60". The Hi-Lift is an awesome recovery tool. Get the offroad recovery accessory kit and some good rated chain!

Don't think of the Hi-Lift as a lifting tool, your stock jack is fine for that (even with a lift) if you strap up the suspension. Plus if you need to jack up the vehicle to remove a wheel for an unseated bead, you'll want your stock jack to lift it and the Hi-Lift jack/base to break the tire down so you can clean things up and get rolling again.

It happens more often than you might think if you're aired-down and get crossed up on a muddy root.

I ended up picking the 48 with the wheel the Lift Mate. I'll let you know if I have any problems with it.

When you said "it sticks above the roof a little" I kind of underestimated that

The Slee single swing-out has it mounted at a much steeper down angle. And you don't need to leave the winching attachement mounted either.

Wab Fab makes a slider adapter. I have one of these and the Hi-Lift Liftmate but the Slee Jak-Off tool is a bit more versatile.

It's not how long it is but how you use it. :grinpimp:

I ALWAYS strap the axle to the frame to minimize the amount I need to lift the truck. On the 100 strapping the wheel to the frame is almost mandatory for the front. The IFS just droops way too much.

I don't have bumpers on my 100 so I don't carry a Hi Lift in it. I do carry an old Handy Man 36" in my FJ40. It's all I've ever needed for that truck, and I'm pretty sure I'll never get the lift or flex on my 100 that it has.

nope, mine lifts it fine...

unless that was sarcasm.. which i didn't catch lol

FYI, you're welcome to borrow my 60" hi-lift for the trip. If you choose to buy one, the extreme is really nice. It even has a bit of bling for the 100 series types...
