Hi all, like the title said, I've had my 06 lx470 for about a year now and looking to put on a lift (most likely a 1.5 from slee). I got new upper control arms a couple of weeks ago and need some advice if I will need to replace. I got it and it came with slightly larger ties - 285/60 R 18 and wondered if anyone had the same build already and if the tires look too small. I don't do any off-roading and just love the "classic-ness" of the LX so trying to do just a simple build. Also, if you had anyone install or you did it yourself? Im not a huge DIYer but I can work my way around the garage (AHC flush, spark plugs etc) I learned most things can be done by looking on YouTube.

Ive also seen things on here about different opinions on the actual lift size on the lx, if the 1.5 just retains stock N AHC ride height or not.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated

This is relatable to, I have an 06 as well.
Keep the AHC 👍🏾
You can do the sensor lift mod and put in 285/70R18 tires and you’re good to go.

I forgot to mention, the AHC is beginning to have problems and I need new shocks as well. That's why im considering the OME

Very unlikely you need new shocks. If they are leaking then the pressures are out of whack and your AHC needs to be tuned up. If your ride is getting rough you probably need new globes, which will run you about $500 plus $100 of new fluid.

For the "Save the AHC" crowd. What "shocks" do you recommend, and to lift the vehicle would you say to change the ride height sensor position? The bushings at the end of the shocks are done for and need to get new ones

You dont change the “shocks”. They are hydraulic rams. If you see them weeping, you need to adjust your pressures to get them in spec. Replace the bushings if they are worn. Check graduations of the fluid and replace globes, too.

Adding more height to these trucks for daily use will cause the handling characteristics to degrade. The benefit of AHC is having an adjustable dampening control coupled with height adjustments on the fly. When you need the lift, it is there with the push of a button.

If you want a perma-lift, go find something with Z71 in the name. That might suit your taste better.

You're just a bundle of joy for everyone who has changed out to conventional suspension aren't you lol

I recommend to change your bushings and get the system in proper working order. The ABCs of AHC - How to Measure, Flush, and Adjust all in one place - https://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/the-abcs-of-ahc-how-to-measure-flush-and-adjust-all-in-one-place.1211999/

The first post is really all you need in that thread.

Then, go ahead and try the AHC sensor lift. There are thread on here, and its free. If you don't like the ride, easy enough to go back, and all it cost you was time.

I'm not sure where you are in Texas, but I'm NW of Ft Worth. I have a bone stock 07 LX and a built 2000 100, and I've done most of what there is to do on these. DM me if you want to swing by and we can go over it.

my lift advice is don't lift it. the 285 tires will fit under it with no lift. I had my LX470 lifted for a while, and went back to stock ride height.
The ride becomes terrible once it's lifted, in my opinion
i was told a 1" ahc suspension lift is optimal w just a 10mm wrench. youtube Ahc suspension lift toyota 100. u can do 2 inches but supposedly 1" is all u want to do

Just put the truck in High if you need a lift. Raising it up by using height sensors / whatever other wizardry will degrade the drivability of the vehicle.
