What is this coming off intake manifold?

Attaching a few photos of a part I can’t track down/find in threads on what it may be. For quick background this is a 1977 FJ40 from Ecuador originally. 2F engine, has a Weber carb replacement and no smog equipment (pretty sure it wouldn’t have been on it originally anyway being from SA). This part looks like some sort of breather. Engine runs great, no need to mess with it at this point but it’s been a mystery since I got El Jefe. Any thoughts appreciated.

I was thinking about doing just that. Curious though on WTH it is. Good idea to disassemble it if I remove. Guessing maybe one way (out) valve of some sort, otherwise there would be a big vacuum leak if it could pull in.
 
I think it's a Knuter or Knutson valve, it bleeds of the vacuum from the muffler bearing as it sucks. ;) :rofl:

Here’s a pic of it off and open on top. Had a couple screens under the retaining clip and then a little push button in the middle that pushes down and allows air in? Feels like there’s a spring under it pushing it closed. Doesn’t make a lot of sense but I’ll plug the hole and move on!!
 
I think it was a vacuum relief, like a compression release. I tried to google up the 22734 part number as in the photo….kept getting Cat diesel parts listings…. So they may have installed to help starting or maybe to dump manifold vacuum when decelerating, like low range 1st gear going down a 40 degree slope….

Interesting. Thanks for that. Well once I get the manifold plugged we’ll see how it runs.

The unusual Colombian topography, when compared to the rest of the globe, forces all vehicles to constantly adapt their mechanisms to the different altitude variations within some relatively short periods of time and distances, thus causing the previously explained performance setbacks. Now, the attempt to modify car operational features to cities like Bogotá by adjusting the spark advance timing and other similar procedures, has shown to be useless in preventing the engine rattle noise when going to warmer lands or the pulling effect when momentum is lost at applying brakes on a street corner, and even the " motor choking reaction when stomping the accelerator in high-powered engine vehicles.

By installing the Marclais ecological valve to the vehicle, most of the previously mentioned hindrances are significantly reduced because the valve automatically regulates itself to allow proper engine oxygenation at different altitudes. Therefore the EV will prove to be a very useful mechanism for vehicles running at high altitudes like moorlands (rather than at sea level topographies), by allowing a greater airflow proportion into the engine. Nor is it necessary to make additional adjustments to install the ecology valve in the vehicle, or to worry about disassembling or calibrating it when traveling to warmer lands, because, as mentioned previously, the EV automatically self-adjusts to the varied heights above sea level.
