what is the difference in LX450 seats and fj80 seats? In my search for new junk yard seats i might have found some LX450 seats that will work for me. But how are these different from FZJ80 seats? Is the cushion and leather and everything different? Are new cushions available from Toyota for them if i needed to rebuild them? Are they generally softer or firmer? Do they bolt right up? Are they close enough that my tough duck covers will fit on them?

I'm not an expert by any measure, but I'd guess they would bolt in perfectly. Granted, they are probably powered so you'd need to pipe in 12 volts to take full advantage.

I'd love to replace my factory seats. They are fully destroyed from a sunroof leak that the PO's never bothered to solve (clear the drains). Horrible seating.

I have the first and second row of LX450 seats. Oak color. The second row leather is good. Front row leather is toast. Let me know if you're interested.

I had an idea of black katzkin for re-skin, but now I'm going another direction.

different leather and foam...

have to get the foam from lexus, $$$, decided to run without (would have about cost the same as the leather kit i bought) when i re-did my front seats...

I just got finished last year doing a custom bench / inboard cover in the boat (by 'I' - I cut the $$ & local upholstry shop did it ;))

What was important takeaway was he said it an easy fix to take an existing foam pad & cut & glue a section of ___lb compression foam back in.

Betting you have the "yellow snow" coming out the DS rear outboard corners too, that was where he was saying a $75-100 job to resculpt both butt & back foams if I brought the seat de-skinned.

Check local shops for correct # compression foam to get a quality job - my boat engine cover got ~3/4" of 10# & a 3/4" of memory I think, came out nice.

I traded out my 80 seats for some LX. The LX seats were more comfortable in my opinion. Seem to hold up better after 20 years.

the local shop said "you'll be fine"....

also i think they might have stolen my cc# so...

needless to say i won't be using them again

Well crap... i missed that one. I have been looking for seats and some how overlooked this gem. 7 miles down the road a local yard has a California LX450, was MINT with 115K on it. Recently rolled over. Driver seat looked NEW in the picture. How did i over look this a week ago when i was going though adds. Well the seats are obviously gone now.

Interesting, I have an LX450 but it has LC seats in it. I've noticed that the pattern is different for the covers (I prefer the LX pattern), but I haven't seen it reported that the foams are different, in fact one of the vendors I talked to explicitly said they were the same. Can anyone who has seen them side by side elaborate on the specific differences?

Hmm... found some old threads, guess I was misled by vendor. Sounds like cushions are definitely different between LX450 and LC. Bummer.

You can only sit on Rexus seats if you are wearing pink Panties. :flipoff2: Yes they bolt right in.
I prefer thongs so the cheeks can "breathe"

I had my LX seats reupholstered locally a few years ago. Worth every penny. Wouldn't hesitate to do it again.

Perhaps I'm mistaken.

Paging @FloridaFJ80

Frank will know as he ships the new foams with his leather covers for both LX and LC.

I thought the LX bottom foams were discontinued....

Yes guys the seat bottom cushion is different on the LX and the LC. The LX foam is made for the no pleat covers see pictures and the LC one is made for the pleat covers. The seat in itself is the same only thing that changes is the cushion. you can ultimately put a LC foam into a LX frame and vice versa and it will work just fine.

@allan man PS side is discontinued you can still get DS ones.
