I have a 77 FJ that I am thinking of parting with. I brought it up from California to Halifax, Nova Scotia 5 years ago where it spent most of it's life in the desert. Mechanically it's sound. Engine was rebuilt approx 10 years ago. Since then it has about 15k miles added to it. Runs awesome. Does not burn oil, no knocks, loads of oil pressure. I have added the 38 webber, headers, non-usa ignition.

It was painted 2 years ago. I sanded it down to bare metal b/c the paint was so sun faded. The only rust is just above the rear signal light. I never cut enough out when I painted it. Everywhere else is solid. Paint is still on the chassis.

What should I expect to get for this if I do decided to part with it?

Thanks, Matt

Value are all over the map and with good reason. I just restored one and when you are finished you are into it for a few bucks hence why guys want the money they are asking.

Yours looks to be in nice condition and would be easy for someone to detail if they wanted. Diesels definitely seem to command more however the FJ's are not far behind. Take a peek on ebay as well as some other sites and see what they are getting. It is literally a range of 5 to 25k if you can believe that. Sometimes more sometimes less? Go figure...

I was thinking about 8-10K Canadian if i compare to what is on Ebay. Does that sound about right? There was a local guy selling one here last year asking 6k and it was all diamond plated. The tub was rotted out. I don't know what he ended up getting but 9k for mine seems reasonable. I'm just wondering if I'm ballpark on the price.

It looks pretty good and to the right buyer... they may pay what you are willing to part with it for.

I recommend (especially with the prices all over the board) going a couple thousand hhigher than what you are willing to part with it for, B/C there is always the guy with cash looking for the "lowball" deal. Then if you are not getting any interest you can drop price closer to what you will part with it for... and stick with that price.

just my 2 cents!

Good luck!

It's like everything, it's worth whatever someone is willing to pay for it and there is almost always someone out there willing to pay a little more than the next guy. Ebay works because it reaches so many people . Good luck with the sale.

Don't forget you are in the Maritimes where it is very rare to find them in decent shape.
I would put it for as high as I can and wait for the right buyer to take it. From what I know , you should get what you want for it .
I learned that the asking price means nothing to the right buyer. They know what they want and what it is worth.
If I was looking for one ,I would look on Kijiji before ebay.
And too bad you are selling it, but wellcome to Mud.

take it to a profesional detailer near you. Have them clean and buff it out. Paint those flares black, and clean up the engine Bay. Then drop it on Ebay. If you do all that, you will fetch above 10k...
