Painted my metal tech family cage and bolted it down to the frame. What a great product!! Now out to change the fluids in the cruiser or go fishing I can't decide.

Rescued the thing from the bottom of the "to-do" list - tried to remember all the things I needed to work on.

Cleaned out a couple pounds of mouse s*** - steam cleaned inside and out, called upholstery buddy to come work on the seats. Bought a case of beer.

Installed rebuilt alternator, charged battery and considered buying a new one. Couldn't find the same Exide Orbital with the studs and wing nuts on top. Hooked up charger...

New brake booster - remembered I needed some fittings and tubing to complete the line lock and prop valve.

Add-a-leaf for the rear, man what an improvement - now to weld some more steel and hang more weight off the rear bumper

While tackling the rear leaf packs, found out one rear shock was blown. Trying to decide between Bilstein or BBCS and what valving.

Now to bite the bullet and buy some decent gauges -

Remembered why I parked the thing last time thinking "all I ever do is work on this thing"...

you guys have a great plan, seems to work. my plan lately has been drink a bunch of beer while i stare at it until something gets done. i figure if i meanmug long enough IT WILL get motivated. hasnt worked yet though.

Well I got my rings and rod bearings in this week. cleaned off the block and used a straight edge to check it. Took the head to work and this coming week I am going to try to clean up head real good and check it over. My old pistons have valve marks in them but I don't know when or why it happened. The motor has been rebuilt a few times.

AAhh WAAY BETTERRER! i was gonna say something about the lack of the emblems in your road trip thread but i didn't wanna be a prick! :p

haha when it comes down to the end of the build you really realize where the money is needed.. its the fancy addons that come at the end.. next: rear bumperettes and a spare

Busy week

1. Install 4" lift Alcan springs
2. Install power steering oil cooler
3. Install new skid plate

Pretty much ready for Moab.

Under coated the tub

Finally got to the detail of undercoating the tub. El Monte paint and about a whole bunch of others said I should buy an $85 gun to spray the rubber with. I actually developed a new age sprayer that I will sell to anyone for about $29.95 including shipping. The spray rig sits next to the can of under coat in the pix. It can adjust to spray wide or a stream to fill in the tight spots. Cleaning after use is optional.

ill take 2! can you ship to the ocean front area of Arizona?

Spent a good four days over the past two weeks trying to track down an electrical problem - battery discharging overnight. Finally got the sh*ts and booked it into the voodoo magic man tomorrow. Me and niggling but debilitating electrical faults in a 30 year old vehicle with hacked wiring REALLY don't get on - for the first time I really felt like setting fire to the b*tch.

Replaced the door trim cards and discovered rust holes in the bottom of my passenger side door. THat improved my mood because at least I can fix that.

Decided to pull my CD player and studied up on Mud to get the info I need on running the ipod touch straight to an amp.

Studied Bestop's patent for their "Super Sound Bar" to get ideas for speaker placement on my roll bar. At the moment I don't have sound when I pull the doors off due to speaker location, but an evil plan is brewing. EDIT: Here's the patent if anyone needs ideas: http://www.google.com/patents?id=pDASAAAAEBAJ&printsec=drawing&zoom=4#v=onepage&q=&f=false

Finally got back to OEM style soft top construction after a month's break from it due to work.

Made clear PVC patterns for the canvas and stripped off the Kayline bows mounting rails thingys. I was impressed that the steel and paint underneath is pristine - just a little red dust.

Modified my front bows so they fit in the factory holes - lengthened them a little and now they are the absolute correct height. Back and middle bows are good to go as is.

Fitted the top panel of the soft top - looks like a full length bikini top - just to keep some of the rain off while I work on the side and rear panels/windows.

Decided to make some B pillars for the front bows out of wood (prototype until I can get hold of a big block of poly to carve out). So much for making an OEM style soft top that works with Kayline Bows - I've basically rebuilt my Kayline bow sections into factory bows. At least this way I can purchase an OD canvas soft top from ocdBeetle and use my home made one as a spare/ full length bikini top with the sides and rear zipped off.

Got a little engine smoke problem, but I'll have that sorted soon enough.

Aggiecruiser got fenders...

Got the fenders, front bib, and hood fit up. Everything fit nicely. The radiator housing is at the powdercoater, and I can drop that all in once I get it back. That leaves fuel system, wiring, and fuel injection. Along with routing my plumbing for the ARB airlocker air hoses, and diff breathers.

Getting closer…slowly.
