Worked on transferring this swing out from a 1st gen 4Runner to work on the cruiser. Lots of small projects to make this work but it's coming along! Will be easy to pull on and off the spindle so I don't have to drive around town with it on all the time. Thanks to my buddy and leftover metal I'm only at $50 for the latch and some hardware!

Cool project. I highly recommend a gusset under that spindle. Your tire weight is no joke.

Thank you! the second I swung it out I thought the exact same thing. I added two gussets on either side of the spindle for holding it up. Also for others wondering, I threaded an m12 up into the spindle from the bottom to give it extra support as it does not extend through and have a classic/stronger double shear. Will post some more pics once its finished.

Not to dog pile, but it also doesn't look like you have much penetration on the welds into that plate. I would maybe rethink that design. Few miles of vibration on that thin plate and I'd hate to see it shear off on the road in front of someone.

All good I appreciate the feedback. I submit my beginner welding skills to comment when I post them up. I did two passes around each of the sections here so the second pass is more raised up. The two holes in the main plate will get M12 bolts going through the bumper in case the welds do break off.

Got the Slee tray and a second battery installed, still need to wire it up before moving on to the other electronics. Winch, lights, radio, and a power panel in the rear are on the short list. Cruisers on the Rockies is serving as great motivation to knock out some long-standing projects.

Sound deadener in the doors and back, re-covered the speaker and sub grills, and installed Morel Maximo Ultra 602's and Kicker sub. Huge reduction in road noise and improvement in sound quality!

Old JBL's are up for grabs here: FREE - SLC, UT: '04 100 Series Speakers (4x JBL 602, Pyle Sub) - https://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/slc-ut-04-100-series-speakers-4x-jbl-602-pyle-sub.1339551/

Now to figure out how to put a second battery where the rear AC is....
What's going on with those struts on the quarter windows?
