Changed out the speaker grill mesh cloth on all speakers. Should have sprung for a higher quality mesh, the colour did not match the pictures on Amazon and I'm sceptical about the durability of the fabric. Used spray adhesive and it seems to have discoloured the mesh a bit. Still, only took just over an hour and looks a million times better than the old, frayed mesh.

Front Sway Bar bushings. Thank you mudders for all the part numbers. One of mine was almost gone. I had one stubborn bolt, but otherwise easy job -- just a lot of short motions on the wrenches due to the tight space. Also put in new engine cover bolts & nuts and replacement skid plate bolts while I was ordering parts (Engine cover 90176-06023 & 91511-G0622, skid plate bolts 90119-08862). The end links were not in bad shape but were a cheap aftermarket version. As with many projects I went ahead and ordered the pieces to replace those too.

Previous owner hack mechanic who did the brakes on my 99 at the local tire shop left me with a nice time bomb when they used a cheap c clip to secure the flange at the end of the axle. It sheared on a bumpy gravel road, which along with what I would guess was a poor job in setting up the pre load on the front bearings caused the axle to back out of the flange and tear things up. Replaced axle, flange, new c clips (bought all 5 to find the one with the correct fitment), only to notice the front right caliper was partial frozen and leaking. Detoured into new rotors and calipers up front. Luckily I travel with a fair # of tools as I'm at my cabin in the north. Got the rig up and running last night.
don't remember if i posted this but made some "mud flaps" for my 4x4 labs rear bumper.
mostly to keep the bumper from getting filled with mud and rocks.
I used this plastic sheet and it easily forms with a heat gun and the the bolts were there originally.
I ended up catch the rear tire on one last weekend and it bent forward. I just heated it up again and bent it back out of the way

I had the same experience with Amazon gold grill cloth.
I reordered this dark khaki that is a closer match.

Finally installed the Doug Thorley Catback system after installing the headers. I can say, I am very impressed with how well everything is made. I've bought several other exhaust components over the years for various vehicles, and even a full race exhaust for my last Tundra; the Doug Thorley kit blows it out of the water, its well made from the front all the way to the back.
My only gripe, the driver side pipe that comes off the cat and over the transfer case is too close the the underside of the body. I had to crawl under my truck again and loosen all the hardware and get on it with a pry bar after it was all installed to get it to stop vibrating on. I also installed reflective aluminized tape to avoid any unnecessary heat transfer through the floor.
Other than that, it sounds amazing and it really makes that V8 come alive. It definitely catches bystanders by surprise when accelerating from a stoplight or on the highway.

Thanks! I didn't replace the factory cats. They seem to flow just fine right now. Unless they get stolen or damaged, I don't see the real benefit on a truck this big.

Cool, thanks for the feedback! Mine are 22 years old now, so I'm curious if people are replacing them, and if so what results they're having with OEM vs aftermarket replacements. I know they're theoretically a lifetime item, but mine are pretty rusty and rattly. I'm assuming a full exhaust replacement is on the horizon for me in the next year or two.
Finished up fixing my windshield after I experienced a pretty bad leak a few weeks ago. I decided to install new trim and rivet myself after reading some of @2001LC’s windshield thread. Had to use some 5mm rivets in some areas where I couldn’t get a good swedge. I still need to do a leak check (it’s raining tomorrow).

I know it’s the wrong thread for this …butt I had my body shop fill the holes, paint it and use Tacoma molding on the roof. Never. Leak. Again.
That's a new one for the books. Which year Tacoma was that molding from?

Replaced the fuel filter and indexed the new OME T-Bars, to 1/2” less than rear.
After replacing rear control arms, front upper arms, tie rod ends and lower bjs - dropped the truck off at the local Toyota dealer for alignment. A few hours later got a call that they can't align it because front wheel bearings have play in them.
I was given a quote of $500 to replace the bearings
, told them to forget about it and picked it up. Looks like I will be ordering new bearings now!

As an owner of a Woollybear trailer [Forthcoming build thread in the relevant subforum] from Taxa [that's the Mantis] - I'd be afraid to tow a Mantis with a LC100 on anything but flat ground. Nice truck however! The Taxa lineup is quirky and awesome depending on your needs.
Interesting to see your build thread, please share the link when its ready. Educate me why you afraid of towing mantis from a LC?

Sad feeling escorting one of your own on a roll-back. Believe I lost one of the bearings in the diff. Will end up going with a Harrop elocker with 4-pinion design and new ring & pinion (stock gears)
