Any chance of a write up? I put new speakers to stock headunit and it sounds like butt, thinking I have to do a full upgrade
I might start a thread of all the stuff I do/have done in the future but i've stayed busy lately to do much of that. I'd be happy to answer any questions you have about it though. I kind of pieced everything together from different threads on here.

My Timken and Koyo wheel bearings came in (plus new oil seals) so I decided to be proactive and get at least one side done today after work. Plan to finish the passenger side tomorrow. Getting stupid good at tearing apart the front wheel brakes.

If this doesn't solve my front end vibration/humming noises I'm legit buying a new car for a daily driver lmfao...
Well, my front end is still vibrating pretty annoyingly at about 70+ and the only thing I can think is maybe a bad front end alignment at this point. Can see the whole bull bar shaking down the road LOL.

Idk, IDC honestly i've been wanting to pick up a diesel X5 for a daily so eff it.

Jack the front up and If there is no play in the wheel and it rotates smooth then it isn't the bearings. If you are getting vibrations at high speed only then it is most likely a tires issue!
Having said that, my other ride is an 17 x5 and is very pleasurable and relaxing to drive, so I can't argue with your choice

Finally took the plunge and removed all my windshield trim.

Background: windshield was replaced by PO in '15 or so. Screws instead of rivets. When I got the LC, one of the first things I did was remove the screws, stick a brush with primer into each hole, and then rivet.

But I knew that wasn't really the right answer. And had some wind noise above 60 that made me wonder.

So I pulled off wiper blades, bottom cowl mouldings, trim moulding at the sides, and the moulding at the top of the windshield. Nothing too shocking under there, but a few very small rust spots. Sanded them, two coats of POR 15, squirted some 3m windshield adhesive along the top, then re-installed everything with new trim piece at top of windshield. By the looks of the one that came out, Safelite (or someone) had reused the original piece--it was _crusty_, and not just 5 years old.

I clearly suck at getting windshield trim pieces in straight. . . makes me wish I had a black LC so it'd be less painfully obvious.

I’m learning lately that this look is not for everyone. @illspirit HATES the wheels and grille, but it looks like he’s never seen real car parts in his life😂😂 all in good fun, Jake!

PLEASE PLEASE let me know if eliminating that panel gap near the bottom corner of the windshield eliminates your at-speed wind noise. I've been chasing down a similar issue for 4 years.

Also, please take additional pics of anything that looks suspect in terms of wind noise on that side. I'll be eternally grateful if your diligence, documentation, and sharing helps me eliminate my wind noise issue.

Thanks in advance!

i woould like to do that too, just a bit scared. i get a whistle at around 60 too

Two weeks ago I had the front AHC shocks replaced ($$$) because they were both leaking. Could have done full OME for the same price, but there are no good Cruiser shops in NYC so here we are.

I suspected that the mechanics hadn't bother to crank the torsion bars or bring the front pressure into speck. So I bought a cable and did it myself this morning with Techstream. So easy!!!

Sure enough the front was reading 9.5(!) and the rear 7.4. So after following all the steps for dummies over on the AHC thread, I got the front into spec. Also took the opportunity to do a mild(?) sensor lift. Result is front and rear up ~1". Here is the result.

I think front could come up a little more. Left my rear pressures at about 7.8 mgpa, so I need to figure out whether its spacer or King Spring time. (welcoming suggestions) Either way its also probably about time to swap in some 285 K02s soon, Defenders are looking a little dinky.

Ride in front is noticeably improved and the softness in the rear is more noticeable for sure now.

Last night/this morning at 2am I finally buttoned up the last piece of trim from the stereo upgrade.

Alpine ILX-W650 double din with Infinity 5 channel amp and speakers. 5.25 components in the front and 6.5's shoved in the back doors. And the final part last night was finishing the trim around the new JL W3 6.5" sub. Everything still looks clean and stock and sounds amazing! Now I just have to find the one rattle now that I have good bass. ALL of this was thanks to this forum for all the info I needed. Thanks!

Nice work on the sub install. Would you share links to any writeups you followed to do this install or share your procedure for fitting that JL into the stock box?

Just a suggestion on eliminating whistle at highway speed. I find that by just tapping the down button, just tapping makes the window move inward a touch. But not enough for it to lower any.

The whistling noise occurs for me infrequently & my guess is when the outside wind is blowing a certain direction. But the above tap eliminates it every time.

Bit of a redundant post, but every critique I've had on my car has been racially or nationally charged. Can we do better, off-road guys?
I think he was just showing a picture of another vehicle with a bunch of stuff attached to it for show, and didn't really have anything to do with the country of origin. I'm guessing if you posted a picture of something you had modified/fixed/whatever that had something to do with off-roading vs. for looks, you'd get replies about things to do with off-roading.

I haven't had it at highway speeds since finishing the job, and probably won't for some time (we don't drive much normally, and are driving even less now--I'm about to do my first oil change in a year!).

My wind noise always sounded like it was coming from the top--it could just be that because the installer reused the original trim (I think), that it wasn't forming a good tight seal against the body. I half wondered if there was a hole in the sealant, but there doesn't appear to have been.

And @ramangain , I don't think I closed any gaps near the bottom corner--I just re-riveted the side trim, which I think went better than the first time I did it--all the rivets got super tight and snapped off nicely-- so it may be quieter.

I can tell you that on the way to the auto parts store for my new rivet gun mid-project, with no rivets in at all, the noise was BAD, even just at 35 mph. So if you have screws instead of rivets, or missing fasteners altogether, that could be causing your noise--it's a 3 minute job to pry up the rubber strip that covers the rivets (or--yipes--screws!) and inspect the heads.

Feel free to PM me--happy to field questions.

Where did you score your grill looks good from this angle

Finally made it west! And yes, I know these can hardly be considered trails but it's my first time and I'd rather not roll off a cliff...
Also a pic of the sleeper set up. Didn't have much time or $$ to spend so I went with two cheap cots from Academy. Works well.
