Yeah that was what I anticipated the color turning out to be. I'm gonna remove the center caps and paint the lugs black and see how it goes. I'll destroy this paint soon enough anyway.

agreed on the black adding some nice contrast! my edges are peeling where the clearcoat didnt bond well, a good lesson for my next respray to add more clearcost as it really makes it pop and protects.. i went with duplicolor graphite to match my gray two tone.

New tailgate cover!

I was commissioned by @ga12r1 to make a direct bolt in fuse block bracket.

Here is the prototype. It will hold 4 different BlueSea panels (5026, 5025, 5029 and 5028) two 12 and two 6 circuit models and a spot for a Bussmann breaker as well. I'll make the first one from 1/8" aluminum and if I don't like it I'll bump to 3/16". Plenty of room under the hood too.

Didn’t actuallly do ‘to’, did ‘for’. Sort of like a birthday present for the wife as it were, though actually it was for me and it’s not my birthday, however she didn’t want me to get smashed under the rig.
Upgraded from 3 to 12 ton floor stands. 👍

good buy! people overlook safety sometimes

i had 4 of those smaller ones, once i got the LX i upgraded to 4 of those monsters for safety, and then i also use the jack to hold it and sometimes even the smaller ones...

Thx !
Def will feel safer, picked these up on CL for $40 for the pair. How could I say no? :) Yes I always use a floor jack as a backup. Cheers!

Went for a drive and found a scenic place to celebrate 222,222 miles for the ol' landcruiser.

I just ordered an OEM Tundra antenna to replace the shorty that came with the kit. Super simple swap!
How's the reception with the shorty? Do you notice any difference from OEM?

Honestly, I'm coming from a broken OEM mast that provided absolutely zero reception, but the 6" shorty that came with the kit picks up all of my local stations just fine. Reception is excellent. I ordered an OEM Tundra 31" for road trips though.

Cool. I'm tempted to do this as my OEM telescoping one is starting to show signs of dying.

I honestly really like the look of the shorty but I don't want to screw myself on reception by having one lower than the roof line.

I suppose keeping a fixed taller one on hand like you plan to do with the Tundra one is a solution.

How was the install of the conversion kit?

Honestly- reception is fine with the shorty... no difference than a longer antenna. I live in FL where it's mostly flat, so perhaps out in CO where you have mountains and varying terrain you might want a longer antenna but honestly I don't see how it would improve all that much. Install couldn't have been easier- just unscrew the little retainer and pull the old mast out, slide the new one in and retighten the retainer.

My 2004 has a secondary antenna in the glass of the rear passenger side cargo window. I pulled out the factory radio recently to install the Owl Expedition Media mount and noticed there was a smaller antenna wire. After doing some searches, I saw several posts about the secondary antenna. I haven't been extending the front antenna and reception has been fine.
