I was told the same thing by two different local dealers. However, I contacted the US dealer in Denver and the director of sales spoke with me on the phone. He said their website had not been updated to include the backbone system as an option for the LX470. You do have to drill two holes in the Pioneer Platform. This allows you to relocate one of the mounting bars so the wind deflector or rear spoiler does not hit the rear of the platform when the rear upper hatch is opened. There are directions on the website on how to do this, specific to the Land Crusier but not the LX470. My advice is to take the measurements directly off of the Backbone mounting holes and transfer them to bottom of the Platform. Then, mock up the mounting locations with the platform sitting on the Backbone. This will allow you to visually check to ensure the Wind deflector does NOT come into contact with the Platform.

The rest of the install is pretty straight forward. The Rep also said it wouldn't hurt to apply some RTV to the bolts that secure Backbone to the roof. This is a bit tricky because the the clearances are tight.

Luckily I have neither. That is funny that these reps told you the same thing as me. I explained to one that they are the same vehicle and argued that nonetheless that any warranty claims would be null and void if I moved forward. I am going to order my set up in the coming months.

I don't have a spoiler or wind deflector so no drillin on my end.

Finally replaced my 2001 LX Mark Levinson head unit. With no native sat/nav/camera on the Mark Levinson, I have been looking for a better audio/digital option. The factory head unit fits perfectly in the console for climate control and I fab'd a shelf w/ USB connections under the new Kenwood touchscreen. Very clean and great modern upgrade. Put a sub under the front seat as the factory sub's life ran out.

I installed my new DEDO headlights from Ebay for $218.00. I added some H7 LEDs from Amazon and am really impressed with the look and the light output.

Very happy with the looks and lighting results!
could you sent the eBay link to those headlights? can't seem to find any at that price whatsoever.

I've had the tmax dual battery kit sitting in my garage for almost two years, mainly because I'm scared of fires, work, and general laziness.

Well, i started yesterday and just finished it up. Not too hard, but you got to plan it right, and those 2 gauge wires are a biiitch!

Ended up putting the controller in the glovebox, running those wires through the the firewall was the hardest part.

Bought another one. 99 LX470, slightly crunched on one side. Nice truck otherwise so hoping to get it fixed and replace my rusty trusty 99 Cruiser (Alejundro) That rusty hunk saved the day though. I tried getting back before the temps dropped and everything became an ice sheet. No luck. The last part of my driveway is super steep and we didn't make the top with the f350 in 4 wheel and screaming. Kinda sucked when we started sliding backwards. We grabbed Alejundro and a strap and my daughter towed me over the top. Time for step 6!

Changed oil (Mobil 1) with Toyota filter and drain plug gasket, about 8,000 since last changed, seemed in v good condition. Greased front prop shaft spiders and slip yoke, so much easier now that I know how to do it by lifting a wheel to spin the shaft. Pushed old grease out perfectly. Temp gauge was getting to 1/2 and 3/4 on the dash, OBD reader showed 220's up to high 230's temp a few times, it never got up to red zone. Got a Toyota thermostat and gasket and replaced the bad one. Temps back to 190 on highway, in town, and idle. The 12mm nuts holding the housing were badly rounded off, had to use a 6pt socket and luckily got them off and back on, but need to replace them soon. A dealership did a TB in 2016 before I bought it, and they were absolutely cranked way too tight. Also, the housing neck where the large hose clamps had corrosion and build up all around. Scraped it off, crusty, and under the crust was some pitting, no large gaps, wet sanded to get all the surface cleaned up and reassembled. Tightened nuts to 14 ft/lb which seems a little light to me, refilled with 50/50 Toyota red coolant, No leaks at all on test drive.

Replaced coil to cylinder #2 and #8 with my son. One had been replaced by previous owner, and the other I think was original. Very soon we are going to replace all coils and spark plugs.

I bought my LC last March and the longer I have it the more I enjoy it! Amazing vehicles.

Just picked up my LX from RPM and couldn't be happier with the results. I bought the car 2 weeks ago and have done the following:

OME 2.5 lift for Medium weight. Shocks/Torsions/Coils 2860
701 Methods w/ 305/65/17R Procomp AT's
HID upgrade....I will do a retrofit in the future. Probably going to use the Corolla LED's.
Replaced coil packs.

It’s been a busy 2 weeks!

Your lifted 100 is worthy of a good photo shoot. You can’t give metered parking photos!

Got myself two new Master Keys and one Valet key made using an ECU with virgin immobilizer chip from ecu guru @Mauser

Do you have only a valet key? With virgin immobilizer chips, you can have a complete set of new keys made.
More info in this thread: Virgin immobilizer chips available

Funny story: the locksmith who came to cut new master keys was adamant that it was "not possible, but hey if that's what you wanna do, that's up to you." Try explaining to someone that "some guys on the internet" have successfully done it!

Its great it worked out. People still tell me it wont work. That's one of the main reasons I started the whole project. Sent out number 5 for the year yesterday. Have had great luck so far.

I heard some bearing whine a few weeks ago, figured it was my fan bracket....So, while I'm in there:

Timing belt job with all ancillary details, seals, pump and bypass hoses, thermostat. Was waiting on parts, so I did the valve cover gaskets, plug seals and cleaned 320k of grime off covers! New alternator brushes, new plug housing for wire harness to alternator (old one crumbled!) Serp idler, tensioner, new belt, new fan clutch, new radiator ( I spotted a small leak!).
IMG_2090.jpg

Cleaned condensers for Trans and AC. Oh, and there was some play in the AC pulley, so ordered a new Nachi bearing. So, after examining the parts I replaced, my fan bracket and fan clutch were still serviceable at 20 years of age, but I didn't wish to push it and I had all new parts in hand.

All this, and I started her up and runs like new....except the AC is showing a fault!! AC plugs are in securely and I don't know what I screwed up. Gonna swing by local shop in a few days for assistance on that. Obligatory pic attached-check out the grime on my crank sensor, wow.

Ready to jump!

Just need some warm weather...

Haha! I have a snorkel sitting in living room too but it is freaking cold here.

A week is 7 days right? So I'll start last friday.

The week started with a challenge, when I drove home the whole truck was high as a kite and hard as a rock, I mean the AHC was maxed out completely to the point where the front would bounce only in the tyres going over stripes etc...
IMG_5829.JPG

So onwards with ther AHC diagnostics! having driven 45's, 60's and 61's, something you have to plug a computer in to is new to me.
Long story short, a front sensor was dead, giving some ****ed up readings resulting in the AHC going bananas.

So borrowing a new sensor, winding up the TB's, resetting neutral height (and ordering new rear coils), I got a working AHC system again, and love it!

Only to rear end a box truck with a lift Tuesday because of black ice, amazing how much damage 2 mph can do...

Man...that sucks! It was raining this morning and I came within inches of tboning a car. I was doing 30 and was able to come to a complete stop. Another 5mph and would’ve hit them. Good luck!
