OK-....What went wrong with the original TB??
APPS and maybe TPS. I was having issues at WOT and I would get a CEL (most recent an 1121 that wouldn’t clear) and go into limp mode about every 6 months. Progressively getting worse. I was able to get the new loaded throttle body for less than just replacing the parts.

How much did you pay @ga12r1?

A new TB is likely in my future.

Important summer mod.

Replacing my sway bar bushings, using Moog K200007. Made in Japan, which is a bonus. The ones that came off are pretty bad. Removing the brackets is also a huge PITA on a vehicle that's spent its entire life in Michigan.

I think I might be able to detect just a little bit of wear on the top bushing...

Is this for front or rear or both? Thanks for sharing, I want to do the same

Yeah... let's just say that I'm finding a lot of items past due for replacement while baselining my truck. Always fun. Haha

Just the fronts for now. I would recommend a ratcheting wrench for the bolt located above the torsion bar; it will make your life much easier. It's a pretty straightforward job, otherwise.

👍
details please. about the deal, the trans and the cost of the work and source of the new trans.

I work at the Toyota dealership and the tranny was blown to the customer basically gave me the car. Sourced one from Ebay for a good deal.
As far as labor goes, I got my employee rate. Ended up doing the Rear Main Seal and Input Seal white we had it dropped.

It will be for sale fairly soon.

I finished up my cheap winch rebuild with a new 3/8" fiber core cable and swivel hook and mounted it to a hitch receiver mount. I figure it might come in handy some day. All in less than $200. I made an adapter for alligator clips so that it can be used on someone else's truck real easy. I used my wife's car to spool in the new cable, she didn't mind...too much.

Did it completely fail one day or did it slowly go out? I haven't heard of a TB failure yet.

Getting the new 555 lower ball joints ready for installation. I cleaned the exposed metal surface area with acetone and sprayed them with some Duplicolor clear wheel coating that I've used to protect metal parts in the past from rust or oxidization. Since the coating was designed for wheels, it holds up to heat and sticks to smooth metal surfaces.

I will pull off the boots before installation and grease the contact area with the LCA. Then I will wipe off the grease and replace it with some sticky waterproof green grease that I've found to work extremely well for ball joints, tie rod ends, u-joints, and CV axles. After I apply the new grease, I rotate the joint so the grease fully covers that ball until it rotates smoothly like butter. I've been using this approach for a decade to extend the life of MOOG ball joints that were not supposed to last. Details, details, details.

Note: This is an experiment to see if it works for 100 series ball joints.

I'm trying to avoid the issues reported in this thread.

Drove deep into the hill country of Texas to have a fellow cruiser head work on the lx470. His rate was $70/hr. Between that and being able to buy my own parts i was happy to save some $$$$$$.

Had him do the standard work on my 2000 lx470 ~173,000 miles

Timing belt/Water pump Aisin kit
Cam & Crank Seals
Idler pulley
serpentine belt
tensioners
fan clutch
differential bushings
Throttle Body Cleaned

I bought the truck last year and decided to have this done early mileage wise as i did not know when it was changed in the past. The old belt looked OK but it was not OEM. Some random off brand kit.
