Well for all you doubters out there....I went thru the 40 today, started off with the fuel filter, then took the fuel pump apart to check that the diaphram was still in tact, and then took the carb apart and cleaned it out....got it fired up and adjusted somewhat...actually drove it around the block, it was a rough trip but made it back to the house. I think I either have the fuel mixture screw out too much or the idle screw needs a lil more adjusting but its a lil rough, but it does idle on its own....a few pics to follow in the next post

Yeah that would be cool...I'm hoping to tool around with it some more over the next few evenings and see if I can't get her fine tuned...It was running real rough when I took it around the block and I think I didn't hook up the vaccum advance on it, at least that's what I'm hoping.

Installed a new caliper bolt after discovering that about 1/3 of the bolt head had been sheared off (not crushed, just gone - wrench still fit over it just fine). Not sure how I managed to do this without f@*king up something else (front wheel).



Also turned all four rotors this week.

GCC does. I turned the two rear ones last night after work. Last weekend I pulled the two front ones off at ACC, then took them to a shop close by that will do them for $10/rotor. They have been shopping for a used brake lathe though.

I gots bigger problems now...both CAT's on the exhaust manifold are toast. I thought it was just bad O2 sensors and replaced those a couple months ago. Now I'm throwing P0420 & P0430 codes every 50 miles (cycle reset). As far as I've heard no aftermarket kits available to replace them, TEQ wants $$$$ for them. I need to pass emissions next month.

Temps before the CAT are around 650* and reading about the same right at the back of the CAT. I thought I'd see if I could reactivate the CAT's by running in a lower gear (higher RPMs to heat up the exhaust), but all that resulted in was higher temps before the CAT and lower temps after, which sounds like they are clogged or simply not working.

Nothing major...just desmogged the 60 today with the guidance and help from Marshall...it went fairly smooth, completed in just over 4 hours, only hiccup we had was that a 40 smog pump is different than a 60 smog pump so we had to run the advance auto and get the bearing...I'm gonna do a write up in the 60 forum this week when I get a minute, but here is a few before and after pics...thanks Marshall!

Magnaflow makes one.

From what I've been able to find, Magnaflow does make a CAT but not an integrated design. Most shops won't cut my existing manifold to put a CAT on it. If I went with aftermarket headers, then I'd be in the hole for more $$$$. Not really looking for an upgrade, just enough to pass the Clean Air Act. This sucks because this is eating up my wheeling budget.

I got the caster shims on yesterday and took it (62) for a drive. It drives a lot better, but still feels like something is loose. If I ever get to rebuild the front axle, maybe I will find something.
Now If I flip the rear springs, I can wheel it again.
