Aw man I want those bug catchers.

Lets see, those would go (if you bought) in the rack against the back wall above the cabnits. First shelf, second black container to the right of the bezels/side aprons. I believe the only thing in that one bin is 2 oem hubcaps. Can't believe i remember this and i struggle on remembering birthdays.

Trans seems much happier. The fluid wasn't burnt or contaminated with water but rather 'broken down and looked like it really needed changing.' The pan was clean too. Flush and filter was $280 + tax which I think was a good price. I'll report back on it later when I can drive the FJC more.

And the shop was American Transmission on 123 in Easley near the racetrack. I'm very happy with them.

Put new headlights into the 40 and took her for a spin!
I haven't had it out for a couple of weeks.
It was a touch cold with no doors and a missing side window;)
Still great fun though.....
Next will be tending to the blown pinion seal in the rear end, getting the heater fan working again and investigating what I'll need to fix the slop in the t-case front output shaft.
I'm sure lots more $:wrench:$:wrench:$:wrench:
The fun never ends!

Did an oil change on the FJC as well.....

2 things. Bad output bearing or the inner roller bearing. Both can be fixed or replaced easily without taking the t-case out.

I have changed my water pump in my 62 4 times in 4 days... and all the hoses.....

Picked up a bunk bed for the kids, with them in tow. Should have seen the look on the guys faces when I told them that I was going to get it all in this truck.

Today was a successful day of wrenching...started the morning off adjusting the valves, three out of the twelve needed adjusting, then replaced a hose from the smog stuff to the air rail...took a few hours off to take Henley to the zoo for orangutang Bob's 6th birthday....once back home I checked the fluids in the trans, tcase, and front diff....I've had this annoying vibration coming from the trans area, well I fixed the annoying part with the tool below, electrical tape, the 4wheel shifter where it sits into the linkage was a little loose in there and there was a vibration, so today I wrapped it in electrical tape....I also jacked up the rear end and put it in first gear, wheels chalked, to see if I could find out the cause of the other noise...only thing I can figure is my drive shaft may be unbalanced or may need to be replaced, when it was in neutral I could grab it and shake it so it was like loose, but it wasn't the ujoints, hard to describe. Then for the finale I added a can of seafoam on friday to the tank of gas, well tonight I dumped about 1/3 of a can down the carb and got a plume of white smoke, let it soak for 10 min and then drove her around. Very pleased with the outcome of the seafoam and valve adjustment, a lot more response and acceleration than I have ever had. Gonna try and pressure wash the engine tomorrow and I've got to add a lil more 90w to the trans, ran out of time tonight to go get some, and grease all the fittings.

I finally got the 62 water pump debacle all buttoned up for some test runs, but had to go to work,,, found some loose transmission cooler hoses and I hope that fixes the hesitation at start up, as I think it was sucking air. I am scheduled for a steam cleaning in the morning of the entire underside. My friend has a forklift repair company and we are going to pick the cruiser up so I can get good coverage. I am afraid the oil leak is from the PO not tightening the cam plate/cover enough... and to fix that I have to take the crank nut off, radiator out, and maybe the crank and cam gears off...

I removed the smog pump bracket.

I am thinking of putting a Mercedes electric double fan in front of the radiator and getting rid of the stock fan. Does anyone have any experience with this?

Could one of those transmission coolers Marshal posted on Ebay be used as an extra engine oil cooler? I would be taking oil from the stock oil cooler.

I am going to adjust valves in the 62 and the 40 tomorrow, install rebuilt head on 87 60 on monday...and hopefully make an alternator heat shield for the 62...

I ran a fan from a pontiac fiero on my 60. Had to build a custom bracket but it worked well with my fiesel. It was a sungle fan

Anyone ever install a Hydroboost brake system? We just got it all installed on my wife's Grand Wagoneer and I think I might have it plumbed wrong.

So we plumbed the high pressure line coming from the PS pump into the engine-side port on the Hydro. We then ran the fender-side line coming out of the HB into the steering box. The low pressure line coming out of the HB gets T'd into the low pressure line on the PS pump.

Currently no power steering or brakes. I guess I'll try swapping the lines and see what happens.

that look nice and expensive. Sounds like the wagoneer is gonna rival the fj on the trails!!

It sounds like the order is correct (High from Pump to Hydro to PS, low from hydro and PS to the PS pump (t'ed). I have no clue how to determine which port is which.

Ours looks slightly different Marshall. We also did not install the extra reservoir - just don't think we will need it and if we really need more fluid, we will just extend the tube on the existing PS pump reservoir.

We swapped the lines and everything seems in order now. Those HP lines are just a bitch to wrangle into position and we had cut one to fit better.

However, we didn't know about bench bleeding the master cylinder before installing, so we will be doing an extending bleeding process this evening. All should be good tonight.

sounds hooked up right to me...but i am still half asleep.

If you did not bench bleed it sounds like you will have a lot of bleeding to do

yep, no bench bleed = mucho air in lines = no workie

i just put a master cylinder on an isuzu box truck this weekend.

I didn't bench bleed because i live life on the edge.

ended up having to back the rear tires up on a hill and then bleed it until all the air was out.

took about an hour to bleed.
