I re-re-engineered my skids this past weekend. Just didn't get any pictars of it. Drilled some new holes, ran some new bolts, added a little more plate steel between the front and middle skid and rattle canned the bare spots again. For now, a temporary fix.

...One of these days I'll design a mid-skid that goes from frame rail to frame rail out of 1/4" plate. 3/16" is too thin for my style - bump & grind.:grinpimp:

My rear diff went out with a BANG this morning. This was the 3rd (and final) set from TEQ replaced under warranty. Looks like I'll be going 4.56 sooner than I anticipated. Called JTsDifferentials.com as soon as they opened (west coast) and they are the only company in the known world that manufactures 4.56 gears for the FJC. He said anybody else who sells 4.56 are just rebranded parts from them...good to know. I'm taking a small chance and just getting the mini rebuild kit instead of the master rebuild kit. As long as the bearings are still good, then I can save a few hunnerd. If we damage the bearings while removing them, then I gotta order the parts that make up the master kit.

At least it happened before I got too far out of the parking lot. Would have been a major PITA if waited until I got to GMP this weekend before grenading. Now I get to unload all my gear and pile it on Brian's trailer and ride in *shudders* the passenger seat!

I've heard about quite a few rear diffs going out on the fjc's are they really that weak??

I worked on the boat all weekend getting it ready for fishing season. Cannot wait.

Good on ya Man! I just picked up a dingy myself. It's a 20 footer with a 150 outboard.
Bought it cheap. I had to do some repairs and tune it. Runs like a Champ.
Just a heads up before you go and I'm All In.
:grinpimp:

I intend for the FJ60 to be the hauler. To that end I've been driving the thing lately.
Man I love those 60s. Drove it to work today and it still generates positive comments. :)
Hell, they're Legends as WE all know.

Rust bucket and all. The thing is in better running condition now than most of it's life.
Header and big ol DGAS Weber, desmogged...and desmogged idler, no cat exhaust. It's a beast.

82 FJ 60 carb in 82 FJ40

The carb that Jay (UZJAY99) traded me for a box of cigars is now performing like a real champ. Tuned the idle back a bit Saturday morning and now runs very smoothly when warm. Still needs a 1/4 choke when cold for the first mile. But, I've decided that it works just fine, especially compared to an 82 carb that was never rebuilt!

Remind me to tell you guys what the 20 something girl mouthed as she passed me on I-26 in her drop-top wrangler the other day . . . .

FYI, the only difference in an 82 FJ-40 carb and 82 FJ-60 is an additional actuator on the front of the carb, which I think is for the AC on the FJ-60.

Pulled my rear 3rd member on Sunday and was astounded to see how bad the R/P looked.
