Went camping in the Chatt Nat'l Forest. Perfect weather and a great weekend of exploring the FS roads in that area. Camped at Jones Creek and had the whole place to ourselves. The next morning we drove up Winding Stair Gap Rd to Duck Rd and down to Three Forks. Hiked the AT up to Long Creek Falls and back. Then we drove on to Hightower Gap. Took Rock Creek Rd past all the popular fishing holes and the Trout Fish Hatchery and all the way to Hwy 60. Then we drove the twisty 60 up to Woody Gap for a scenic overlook down into Dahlonega. Had an awesome lunch at a New Orleans style place (Muffaleta & Jumbalaya). A nice, relaxing end to my birthday week.

drove it :bounce:

wired up a start switch, fired first try
first time in 6 weeks, Knee-o-meter says one more week and well be good!
bout forgot how fun the 45 is to drive

finally installed rain gutter mount yo-mama roof rail feet and custom 1" square rails.

have the 2" body lift sitting in a box, maybe it will be lucky enough to be installed next week.

got the electric fan mounted to the custom cruiser radiator bracket i built a few weeks ago.

got some extra leafs cleaned/painted to install in the rear spring packs up so i'll get the full 1.25" lift out of my 2.5" over shackels instead of just getting the rear sag out...still have to install those along with the front 2.5 over stock shackels.

finally got tired of the leak from where the header flange meets the exhaust system, the gasket blew out months ago and i've just listened to it get louder and louder and louder as the bolts came out.

Got 3 new bolts installed with lock washers, much quieter now, just got to let the carbon do it's thing to finish sealing it up where i didn't put a new gasket in. Not to worried about it since the header/2F is gone soon anyway.

Got the Diesel engine apart so I cleaned/painted oil pan, inspected bottom end and found everything to look clean/ready to go. Put in new rear seal, oil pan gasket and push rod inspection plate gaskets.

Have a member of a florida cruiser club that should be getting me a ranger over drive when he gets back in the country around the 6th...once that arrives and i get back from the low country boil trip the diesel goes in!

If the deal falls through with the fellow cruiser member on the ranger OD i'm just going to say screw it and go new, i'm iching for the sound of the diesel.

Got plans for a oil centerfuge to be set up at work so i can clean/recycle all motor oil from work and all the hydro oil from my dads plants to re-use as fuel. Don't have time to collect/clean WVO at this point in my life with the children/wife/hockey/church/beer/dogs/beer/beer/beer so this will be my alt. fuel for now.

Ran the new V8 at operating temp for 20 min. to burn the condensation out of the block from it sitting for 1.5 years. O r atleast I hope that's why it stopped blowing white smoke, and not because I am out of coolant.

Also mounted the new roll bar, and drove it up the street a minute. I still need to adjust the carb and timing, it revs up pretty high at idle after warming up and when you hit the throttle the first time with the choke open.:meh:

Now I just need to change all the fluids and mount my IPOR skid plate.:bounce:

Worked on the waggy some more. Took longer than it "should", but got the power steering lines installed. Had to modify the stock GM high pressure line to fit and not interfere with the radiator - it had a crazy double S bend in it. Double flared the end 4 times before getting it right. The third time was perfect, except that I forgot to put the threaded connector on before flaring. Also had to take about 1/8 of the connector lip away and step drill the interior of it to match up with the double flare end, which is how it got forgotten on the 3rd try.
Then put the power steering pulley on and wound up trashing Michael's pulley installer tool in the process - that's what lifetime warranties are for, right?

Also installed a new Spicer pinion yoke on the front DS, courtesy of Tom Woods Custom Drive Shafts - finally got to use the $100 GC from the LcLC Boil last year.

broke a hearer hose and realized 4wd won't go into gear. Do'h

did a bit of off roading with Gabe

installed some extra leafs in my rear packs to give it about 1" lift...will have to put some aftermarket springs under the back of her if the 2" body lift doesn't give me the clearance i need for the isuzu swap.

Loaded down now with all my camping supplies except for the coolers she sits nicely. I'm sure once i unload everything the back will sit slightly higher than the front.

I'll have to enjoy her alot this week because when i return the 2F comes out and the 4bd1t goes in!
