I got some goggles and some old person inserts to go with the fullface and big ol enduro sled. This way I can actually see the drops i chicken out on.

Big shout out to Sved Optical. They've done a few inserts for me and they've all been awesome.

Got a nice ride in today. I originally planned for my road bike, but the Di2 was dead. So swapped to my custom gravel rig. It felt good to turn some pedals again. I had zero plans for a route, just rode with shady stops in between since it 90⁰

Any ride is a good ride vs. not riding IMO. Sweet setup.

Will do, Joey…. Jenna is bringing her TI Hayduke hardtail with 2.8’s!

Taking the ghey-ass Prius but my fuel costs will be super nice in expensive California.

Send pics, be safe. Drive fast. Take chances.

I know nothing of this era of components. I wonder how you found out this lesson
😆 I'm thinking "progress" is not always awesome.

No matter how I adjusted the derailleur (which you have to do in an app over Bluetooth, mm hmm) it would always skip or make a racket on at least one cog. Checked the chain: I have never seen a more stretched chain. Replaced it. Same issue. Checked the derailleur alignment. I would have considered it fine for the 9-speed dura ace bikes I used to race or even the mechanical 10 speed XT derailleurs I've had on just about every other mountain bike I've owned (one had Di2 XT 11 sp, and I'm pretty sure the alignment would have been fine for it, too). But fine is not perfect. So I honked on my derailleur hanger alignment tool until it was perfect and then remounted the derailleur. Perfect shifting.

So I guess the moral of the story is to post armed guards around your 12-speed drive train because the cog spacing is so intolerant of even the slightest bump. This is a problem for me because the bumps my bike gets are usually not slight 😂

I learned Eagle 12 speed AXS is really really really really picky about derailleur hanger alignment. I guess that's why ---> transmission? @nonstopbike ?

Yup, 12 speed is inherently more sensitive to hanger alignment because of the smaller spaces between the gears.

And shifting issue, i check hanger alignment first.

The real crappy think about transmission is that if you catch the der on something, there is no hanger to bend, and the cage itself will bend…. And it’s not something you can straighten because it’s got a complex curve out of the box. Thanks Sram.

UDH is good. Direct mount ders are not.

Yeah, fortunately my hanger on the Epic E-Faux (the AXS bike) is UDH. Cheap and easy to find if you really f it up.

My Lynskey is another story. The hanger on that bike is bespoke (<-- right there's some serious word choice in action ) and made out of the crappiest pot aluminum that gives you MAYBE one re-alignment before snapping off.
