Auto.
Mines an older hydro 442, so it's equipped with the simpler canuder valve.
Have you checked the Blinker Fluid? I have heard of it causing transmission problems as well.

I have clear blinkers. They are full to the brim.

I need to change my blinker fluid out. I accidentally filled with the green North American blinker fluid, not the cool red Asian stuff.

I use the blue German because it looks cooler.

While on the topic of @dynamat_official sound deadening, this JDM81 needed the diesel and MT tire noise eliminated from cabin so that a conversation can be heard even with the radio off.

This JDM81 has the working fridge/freezer center console but also horrible shag carpet that looked like it belonged in a 70s rape-y panel van. Carpet was pulled and will be used as a cut template for the new carpet. But first the Dynamat was applied and mass loaded mat will go on top before new carpet goes over. This WILL sound like the inside of a coffin when done.

This JDM81 had the entire floor done all the way up to under the dash, all doors and quarter panels. It took a total of four boxes of Dynamat Extreme and four rolls of tape. I like the tape because when running wires or dealing with doors it prevents getting the edges of the aluminized back from slicing little cuts on our hands.

The ceiling was not done only because this is a 91 so it’s not the convenient one piece roof panel. I’m not touching this ceiling panel because it’ll never go back the same way and will look like ass with the discoloration.

Total time involved was 20 hours.

OK, noob question. I see everybody applying their favorite sound-deadening product inside the cab, but what is the risk (if any) of this stuff trapping moisture and causing rust on the body? In daily use it's probably fine, but what happens if/when moisture is introduced?

Started my first attempt at a knuckle rebuilt. Im still on the disassembly/cleaning process.
With that, I have a few rookie questions

Any idea what that orange thing is? Is it supposed to be there? Feels like a paint of sorts.

Can I just clean everything with mineral spirits or is there any parts that I should not do it?

And the birf have some hot spots in it, is it worth it to reuse it?

TIA!

The place to look for wear on the birf is on the cage that holds the balls inside the bell. It'll be pretty obvious if it's significantly worn.

Orange paint is odd, but doesn't look like anything to worry about.

This stuff is so incredibly sticky that it would require a feat of hydrology to get water past the butyl.

Unless you drown the truck in a body of water, but I suspect water under the Dynamat will be the least of your worries at that point.

winter camping and some snow wheeling up by Superior National Forest. The 80 did amazingly well breaking the trail. Didn't crash my drone!

How was the snow up there? I’m planning on heading up to the Chippewa National Forest the week after Christmas and then make my way into the Superior National Forest. Were the roads and trails passable?

Another set of seats repaired. This would be the sixth set in the shop. It’s becoming fairly routine now and this set, so far, has turned out to be the easiest. Everything was straight forward. White caps missing and gears were stripped. @gamiviti to the rescue. Time to order up more gear sets 🤔
I have a set of gears I never installed, LMK if you want them and I'll cut you a deal. Ended up getting different seats instead. Also not sure if there is a market for used worn out LX450 seats? I want to get rid of those too.

Ha! I'll take the gear set. The seats....

LOL ... I did the same thing. Installed new gears in my LX seats (and bought a spare set in case I cracked the first during install) and then promptly decided I hated the seats and bought Scheel-Manns. The OEM seats now sit in my office reminding me how dumb I was until I find someone to give them to.

we were up by Grand Marais which got the most snow last week probably 2ft. the only time i get stuck is going uphill when the tires start digging and losing momentum. otherwise it was light snow so we had no issues plowing thru most of it.

with that said, most of the legal forest roads are open and plowed, and if not they are 95% snowmobile groomed trails. The I don't think you'll encounter any problems navigating around. Just don't go the day after a blizzard :)

Been using the LX as my daily since the work truck got hit..

Really is a privilege to drive such a special vehicle! Brings back memories of a 17-year-old me scrounging up pocket change for gas to drive my 94.. that rig wasn't as nice and this one ain't perfect but a good buff/ wax makes a huge difference! Need to fork up the money for clear glass so I can tint this thing
