Like couple of idiots we went to Death Valley in the heat.


103 degrees at 8 am, the weather forecast said 89 is high.....

For future reference: If you have a 91-94(OBDI) 80 and you jump the E1 & TE1 terminals in you diagnostic port to read the code then disconnect your battery but forget to unplug the jumper in your diagnostic port you will get a constant fast flashing check engine light.

This is followed by 15-20 minutes of searching on MUD and looking in your factory service manual trying to find out WTF a fast flashing check engine light means. Then contemplating what the hell you were thinking buying a 1FZ-FE. Cursing. Then realizing you are stupid and forgot to unplug the diagnostic jumper.

This is then followed by public shaming yourself on MUD to firmly etch this in to your memory so that you never do something so idiotic again.

If only someone could come up with a simple tool to help mitigate just that. Hmm, if only.

@FJP971 No, that wasn't Pinkham Canyon, it is Doberman Mt. Rd according to wilderness.net. This area is further north outside of the park boundary. Hope this map image helps. I highlighted the sections of road where the videos were roughly filmed.

Also, the mount is an AKRON suction cup phone mount. Image stabilization brought to you via iPhone6 .

If my math is correct, there should be a decimal in that "meters" figure. It would have been cool to be almost a kilometer below sea level though. #mathgeek
