Went home over lunch and picked up my very own rollover protection system (RPS).

Removed A442F transmission to find the one clutch pack in very bad shape.

Referred to as C02 in service manual, rear clutch on Toyodiy and others call it the direct drive clutches.

Either way if you turbo your 1FZFE and increase you power by 100% expect this to happen to your transmission

So what happens is you loose 3rd, O/D and reverse.

So the fix is.....
Buy new clutches and clutch plates.
Order Extreme Valve body from Wholesale Automatics and the lock-up kit while you in there.

Transmission is currently dismantled awaiting parts.

Backing off 8 turns is definitely too much. Maybe 8 clicks?

You are correct sir - 8 clicks is what is in the FSM (and what I did, I mistyped stating 8 turns.) Still WAY too much. I found @RavenTai's directions to be the most helpful. I landed I think 1-2 clicks off touching/dragging.

Is your 80 lifted? Rear hub seals OK or any sign of gear oil getting onto the parking brake shoes? Lift can get the parking brake cable housing out of alignment, gear oil contaminated shoes will obviously reduce friction and holding power.

Also brake drums with some wear and a lip on the inside make the factory adjustment procedure a little more interesting, as you have to back the star adjuster pretty far out to clear the lip when removing/installing the drum/disk, then tighten it much more than if the drum had no lip.

I need to adjust mine soon and plan on using an angle grinder and soft disk to carefully remove said lip.

Negative on the lift, and honestly the insides of the drums looked really good, other than very dusty. I replaced the rotors because the braking surface (for the calipers) was pitting, so brand new rotors - no worry of a lip. And no brake fluid anywhere. I should have taken a pic, ya'll wouldn't have believed how good the insides look. East coasters would have been jealous of the absolute absence of any rust or corrosion, I didnt have to use a single drop of WD-40 or PB blaster.

It's not an coincidence that "golf" and "suck" are both four letter words. As well as many other four letter words that are less polite to put onto the interwebz.

Strange, I love using my 80 to haul my clubs to the golf course to play golf. Doesn't suck at all:flipoff2:

I would buy these in a heartbeat if you decide to make and sell them... I call dibs on the first ones!
Ordering materials today. Ill keep you posted :-)

A golf course is a sad waste of a rifle range.

Combine the sports, and you might pique my interest.
i admit, I'd like blast that ball with .40 s/w sometimes!

Drove it to the Sierra for some snowsliding. Screw work.

I think I've said that exact thing before!
And when I'm too crippled to do anything else, maybe I'll take up golf.

More likely, I'll just take a really long walk in the desert.
