Dang, man. Your engine bay is spotless. Beautifully done.

Looking forward to reports on the oil too.

Cheers!

Thanks man! There’s a car show for bring a trailer here in town tomorrow and I’m trying to sell my sisters 80 series there. Trying to reel them in with my 60 so I got it all cleaned up and presentable 😂

Wheel bearings and inner axle seal installed in a quite corner of the local Walmart parking lot.

Shout out to John @ Radd Cruisers for getting the parts out to me super quick! I know you're on here somewhere..

Cheers!

Right on. Good luck with selling the 80.

Impressive work and to have everything handy! It's not easy working on the hot asphalt, glad you found some shade.

Managed to wrap up a few projects as I prep for SAS. Feels like I’ve turned the corner on this project and am in the final phases of verification and road testing.

Got my brake project completed which included all new soft lines, new pads and shoes on all 4 corners, some sexification in the way of new OEM front calipers, parts courtesy of @cruiseroutfit and @cruisermatt. Rounded things off by fully flushing and bleeding the system plus the clutch since I had everything out already for bleeding. Brakes feel amazing now.

I also added some 25mm wheel spacers in the rear which really helped with some inner tire rubbing on my OTRAMM exhaust.

Lastly, I installed some new speakers and a stereo. Had a hard time with this as I wanted a factory look but ended up with this Blaupunkt Frankfurt which has some nice modern features while still looking period correct, albeit an upgrade. Thanks to @torfab for providing the bracket for a DIN sized radio. Sounds really nice and it’s great to finally have some tunes on board. This will be most welcome on trip out to Colorado.

Love this. I really don’t understand why people feel the need to give one stink eye when working on ones own car at your place of residence. Kudos to you though for doing this rather messy job “Baja Style”. I started calling any kind of significant roadside repair this after fixing several motorcycles in the bush in Baja while on some trips there. Definitely makes once super creative as you don’t have the luxuries of home to rely on.

Sure, anyone. Obviously you haven't seen my stash of parts order failures, but finding things is part of the fun. Agreed on the current state of tariffs, but even that is so random. I can adjust with the current silliness with importing parts, what kills me are the "brokerage fees" that have to be paid for the added TACO tax.🌮🍻

I think it's really cool that you found that, just so much neat stuff sitting in a warehouse... somewhere.

Got my final valve adjustment and timing completed prior to the cross country trip in August so I have time to confirm engine is running to spec. The #6 exhaust valve was a little tight as were the #3 and #4 intake valves. This is my second time checking the adjustment with the engine running and I really like this technique, it’s much easier. Timing was slightly advanced from the BB so I brought it back just slightly behind the BB as I was getting some pinging under hard acceleration. This solved the pinging and I seem to be running a little cooler. The red valve cover adds around 10bhp so I’m told.
