Are you going to start making those rear hatch handles?

Rear wiper hasnt worked since I got the rig so pulled everything apart to find the issue - turned out to be two broken wires in the gland between the body and the hatch but also found the bracketry of the motor also has some issues....

sadly dont have a welder so couldnt fix it properly now but will get to it eventually.....

Went for a few days camping trip with my brother. The trip was cut short when on day one I heard an awful metal on metal sound while twisted up, on a steep incline at 11,000 ft. I managed to back up and get turned around. I noticed when descending an off camber shelf road that the noise went away with the clutch disengaged. So I took it out of gear and descended the sketchy shelf road riding the brakes and praying the whole time. We got to a flat spot and I removed the rear drive line (or is it shaft?). Drove to find a camp and then 80ish miles home the next day in front wheel drive. She still hasn't left me stranded
One really cool thing, on the way down we passed a bunch of 60's, 40's, 45's and a few 80's that were going up. Turns out it's SAS week! It was cool the see all the awesome rigs in the mountains.

Got the BMW seats installed w the Torfab brackets. These are from a 2015 325i, cost me $200 plus the brackets. What a massive improvement- I think this could be the best “bang for the buck” modification going. Still need to reinstall the Tuffy console, waiting on a switch/indicator for the seat power, which should be here tomorrow. Since I ditched the original rear heater, I just used that relay circuit to power the seats.

(Edit) Oh and I passed PHX emissions again this week. 260k, original engine.
Where did you find the seats? I’m in Phoenix too, and am looking for a set.

Got the MOT done, the FJ is now road worthy. Still needs some work but paperwork for registration is done 🤙.

Change rims and tires.

cleaned the interior a little and thought about how to arrange everything for our Morocco trip. Girlfriend helping out again 👍👍👍

👍🏻 be patient

Had been watching CL and Marketplace for maybe 6-8 months. Had a search for "bmw partout". A small dismantler had posted pics of the car and I could see the seats appeared in good shape, and when I asked for more pics he sent them. Prior to that I probably contacted 10 other sellers that either never responded or the seats were in poor shape and not worth my drive to check out.

Had the lower dash bezel on my FJ62 crack apart on me when repairing my speedo. It's already been pretty messed up from the PO's hacky stereo job/trailer light switch add on. I found a thread here that recommended using Plastex. While I'm not the most skilled at this yet, it really added back the structural rigidity this piece needed to go back on correctly. Very impressed with the results. Think this one will last a while longer until the Rust Farmers lower dash bezel releases.
