Rebuilding the knuckles and replacing brake lines. And as most of you are aware, cleaning, cleaning, cleaning.

Same here. Sold an '18 OR for my 60 series. Only thing I miss is the cruise control.
Haha i mean you can always add it...

My 3rd gen tacoma was probably the worst vehicle ive ever owned, tied with my 2017 STI limited. When my wife drove it and asked if it was broken because when she pressed the gas and nothing hppened, i knew it was time to sell it.

Interesting. I love my taco.

Hit the fan, literally. Just like @CruiserTrash a few days ago, I had to change my driver side motor mount. Rubber had separated, likely from the constant power steering fluid bath and exhaust heat. Had a couple good ones from an FJ62 so dropped one in. No more embarrassing noises leaving stoplights.

I had cruise control in my 60 when I bought it. I never could get it to work so I just ignored it for years until one day it kicked on and reved the engine up to redline in about six seconds. Couldn’t figure out for the life of me what caused it. Would hit the brakes and it would go back to idle. Then would tap the gas and it would redline again. Finally pulled over and messed with the linkage and realized the cruise control was working intermittently and not at all safe for the engine. I’m glad it didn’t cause a crash. I ripped that sucker out immediately. Never again on a carburetor.

I'm trying to re-attach one of the new rear leaf springs to the axle (spring is already installed between shackle at the back and pin towards the front, just hanging down; axle is supported on wood and jacks). It is the OME heavy, replacing a very saggy stock spring. But the centre locating bolt/pin is way off, like the axle is 2" to the rear of the spring. I triple checked I have it in the right direction (military wrap facing forward). The axle moves a bit if I push but I'm not too keen on winching it into position, too much pent up energy. I am thinking I should be able to just zip off the U-bolts on the other side of the axle to free it up, that way I'm only pushing back the drive shaft to move the axle and not trying to bend the spring on the other side? Is this normal for it to be so different compared to stock? This is with it already compressed so it is as far back as it's going to go.

I’ve been trying to fix some little things and had some time before work tonight so I checked continuity of rear defroster and nothing. Disconnected and cleaned connections and now continuity and voltage. Maybe that’s an easy one?
Then I pulled the wiper fluid reservoir and cleaned it and blew out the lines. Fluid pump would just click. Took it apart and pushed the gears with a screwdriver and it started working. All back together and pumping washer fluid! Only pic I got was the screen in the reservoir after I cleaned it. It was thick blue gunk before. Side bonus is my rear pump started working after this. I don’t think they’re connected so…..

remove the zirk in the drive shaft and it’ll line up easier.

When I installed my add a leafs in the Medium OME Rear springs making them "Heavy" I did not install the springs in either Shackle. I installed the springs back on the axel and just snugged up the Ubolts. I then installed the spring in the rear hanger and then had to use a prybar and floor jack to locate the front of the spring in the hanger. Alot of healthy persuasion went into it😜.

I believe this might be my first post in the 60 section.

Almost have the body separated from the rolling chassis.

Doing a quick “resto” on my sons fj62.

Hopefully he will post up a build thread soon once we have made some more progress.

Hoping to have the body separated by this weekend

It sounds like the axle is rotating forward (pinion toward the ground) as there is weight and driveshaft lengths at play. I used a bottle jack to lift the pinion angle back to normal. I went through this when I installed my lift using a jack and floor stands and ran into the same issues. I found that working both sides of the axle at the same times worked best. It’s a lot of small adjustments. I also used a ratchet strap as well to help moved the axle.

I finished up my radio upgrades this afternoon and verified operation. I updated the hardware from an archaic head unit and some generic 6.5" speakers that were falling out of the doors, to a

Alpine UTE-73BT - https://www.crutchfield.com/p_500UTE73BT/Alpine-UTE-73BT.html
that I mounted with the Cruiser Head radio bracket. I added in a mini amp for the speakers. These things are great and small AF.
I swapped out the junk front door speakers for these 5.5" jobbies and covered them with the speaker covers from CruiserCult
I left the rear 6x9s alone because they still sounded pretty good. Finally I did an underseat subwoofer / amp combo Sound Ordnance™ B-8PTD - https://www.crutchfield.com/p_777B8PTD/Sound-Ordnance-B-8PTD.html

I still have the dash out, since I'm also doing the evaporator and expansion valve, but I was able to test it with the radio just sitting and it sounds exponentially better.

I pulled apart the HVAC and found lots of pine needles and dust from when the car lived in the High Sierra's. I got new foam and felt padding for everything. While I was removing the suction line from the evap under the hood, it looks like the threads got buggered on the line, which is NLA, so I'm hoping I can clean them up or get a new one made. Idk, either way here's the only two photos I got.
