Looks like a dang good time! No water in your dizzy?

No pics, but took another trip around the block. First one in like a month as it's been down for servicing.

Also ordered a carb rebuild kit and parts to build an ultrasonic cleaner. Going to get after the spare carb.

Tell me about these parts for an ultrasonic cleaner? Cheaper than the real deal?

What did you go with for the ultrasonic cleaner? I've got a rebuild kit, completed disassembly, and am trying to figure out the best route for cleaning parts (or whether to just bail and send to @65swb45)

Sorry for polluting this thread will silly questions. But does anyone know this truck (spotted in Truckee, CA 2 weekends ago)?

I ordered a transducer and a modulator board off ebay. I'll do a small proof-of-concept (a couple liters probably) and if it works I'll add another transducer and use a larger container.

Way cheaper, I'm about $30 including shipping. I still need to pick up an extension cord and a metal pot, but I can get both of those at Goodwill for $5.

Totally done I'll be <$40, so about half the cost of buying one.

best route for cleaning part
I’ll add, if you watch the videos that Pinhead has in Youtube, I’m pretty sure he never mentions an ultrasonic cleaner.
Dipping for 2-4 hours minimum in a 1 gal can of Carb Dip (whatever it’s called, wear gloves, it’s way nasty) does work. If you have a compressor, blow it out good after you rinse it. And if you do have a compressor it’s really easy to make a baking soda blaster to clean each section. Check out how to on YouTube. I set one up but the crappy 3gal pancake compressor I had wasn’t strong enough to give it a lengthy blast.

Shoot me the details. You know me, I’m all for making my own!

Or you can simply duct tape a palm sander to a can of carb dip. Works although pretty loud!

I almost shot soda through my nose over that!

x2 on just using the carb dip. I use gasoline for the rinse. no trade secret there

I have done that before with surf board epoxy to get the bubbles out. It vibrates ULTRA alright. Thank God for white vinegar or everything would be epoxied to everything in my shop.

I replaced my catalytic converter. I performed a cold valve adjustment (first time) gained 2 in/hg in vacuum ...and I found a wobble in my harmonic balancer... this is becoming a 5 week long weekend repair project. And I'm not even on my suspension yet!

That is a sweet truck. Its a well done diesel conversion FJ60 with a Ca smog exemption. Georg owned it for a bit and I was hoping he would sell it to me. Instead, another of his customers got it-I've forgotten his name but had lunch with him. Really nice truck, converted in SoCal I think by SOR. Don't quote me. Anyway, it's an awesome truck, and I wish I owned it.

My truck was over heating on my trip to the Grand Canyon.
Removed front grill to allow more air to get to radiator. Changed fan clutch in Twin Falls, radiator cap in Wells Nevada and some JB Weld around filler neck of radiator. Today Installed a new LED light bar in the hope of getting more air to the rad and intercooler.
Will remove my big Hella spot lights that are right in front of the intercooler and radiator.

Ordered a set of extended rear sway bar links from ManAFre. I looked under my truck and I have no rear sway bar. I must have the POVERTY PACK. So I decided to just remove the front sway bar and return the rear links to manafre. My truck is not a DD and I drove my 4th gen 4runner with no sway bar as a daily driver, so I figured the gain in articulation is well worth it. Also gets rid of some rusty parts underneath.
