Got rid of the tinted windows that have been bugging me for a while. Finally getting to some of "those" items on the list.

^^^ green grass. I’m jealous. It’s snowing here again in CT. Weather report is saying potentially 4-18” depending on location starting right now. Bleh. I’m done w/ the snow.
I won't apologize, it's still below freezing at night and the snow only melted in the last week, there are still bits on the north
side of buildings. I'm done with snow too, still heating with fire for a while I expect.

Foot plus of very wet heavy snow but this super woman took it in stride. Power went out last night about 7pm and only just came on at about 2:30pm today. Grateful to my fireplace and gas stove. Few more downed trees in my backyard... bit of a mess but all is good. Kid had fun playing while I shoveled and straightened the fence.
Truck is sitting idle for now till I get the rust holes patched and either hook up the bypass hose for the tcase to trans or not. I’ve yet to decide. Finally got the tcase filler hole tapped deep enough for the 1/2 npt plug. Was feeling a bit of anxiety w/ every additional turn tho Georg @orangefj45 said to go halfway. Plug still doesn’t quite seem to be as deep
as it ought to be?

I love the way the tint adds contrast to the overall look of the vehicle but can't stand that the clarity and night visual got to S$%t!
I agree but it is not just contrast it also keeps the interior cooler during the day in the summer. Thus the AC works less.

A good friend of mine that I like to quote when I get nervous about doing something I’ve never done before, “Proceed with confidence”.

Looks like a great job, but I let Orange tell it!

Question: are NPT tapered - and no tape or rtv needed?

How many threads are in there?

Not as many as would seem enough. I won’t be driving it or pulling that out today w/ all the snow on the ground but I will Check it.
For npt, yes the t stands for tapered from what someone else told me. I can add tape but don’t want to add any rtv until I decide what I’m doing w/ it. From what I’m told the tcase has very little pressure build up so the plug can be as simple as a winecork if nothing else is on hand.

Fixed bushing, and recurved dizzy. Thanks @roadstr6 for the info and @NeverGiveUpYota for referring to it. Took an hour to search for it but in the end Felicity was correct, rushing turdle thread by Dave @roadstr6 post #154.

For those of you who did this mod, are your springs this far extended? I’ll be playing around with these as I get my truck desmogged.

I’m sure mine looked the same. Did you check the gap as well between the block? Mine was way off... too tight. Some folks play w/ that too, opening it or closing it more.

Yes, and it’s tighter at the bottom than top so I made it not smaller than .008 at the bottom and no bigger than .016 at the top. It’s not really that bad, the 16 mil couldn’t go in.

Hoping for an average of 10-12 mils. The block wasn’t cocked at all, and I don’t think they can wear if they don’t touch so I don’t really know what to think of it, or if it will be a problem.

Met with @boots4 to go over my diesel swap and check out the SOA route to my 60. 4BT motor mounts are in and it's sitting in its new home. Went for drive in his compound turbo 4BT automatic on 40's. His setup is crazy. Inside the cab it feels more like your in a cockpit. Thanks boots4. Soon Little Brother will be out there exploring our great state.

Finally got the old girl back running again. Lost my signal generator a few weeks ago. Replaced it with the part that goes in a ‘84 Yota truck (Standard Motors part LX534, Amazon for $40). Physically similar to the OEM, just needed a new connector wired on. But it didn’t run well at all. Wasn’t really sure if it was because of that part, if I was a tooth off on the dizzy (tried it several times) or because I had put some dielectric oil on the fly weights to prevent rust....they moved fairly freely but not nearly as freely as they did without oil). So I installed the “proper” SG (Standard Motor part LX712, Amazon $72) and removed the oil from the fly weights. Much more better. 21” vacuum. Happy camper. Next project is to install TH carb and rebuild the OEM. It’s scary that a small part like signal generator can cripple this truck, but it forced me to learn about the “scary” electronic distributor and ignition system, for which I am grateful to have tackled.

@chichiflys, Sounds and looks great. I can't remember, what was the initial reason you started to investigate the SG?

Truck died on my way to the gas station....troubleshot things and found that I wasn't getting any sparky. Everything (wires, cap, rotor, coil, igniter) passed troubleshooting checks per FSM, then found that the signal generator had no continuity at it's plug (the short two-wire green plug coming from dizzy, pink and white wires), so I figured that was the culprit.
