It really helps to keep the cargo area protected. I cut a slit in mine so that I can fold the seats independently without having to unbuckle it from the headrest. It's currently rolled up and tucked behind the seats, but easily deployed.

The driver's side front caliper had a stuck piston. I replaced the fronts brakes today with new GX460 calipers and rotors with Hawk LTS pads. Also upgraded the front brake lines to Goodridge stainless steel lines. I had the calipers powder-coated by Bulletproof Powdercoating in San Bernardino, CA. I went with gold to get a little bit of pop against the TRD wheels I just ordered.

Please also share if you "feel" the brakes are stronger. My friend and I both gripe about what feels like soft brakes on our respective GX's (I've purged/replaced brake fluid in both rigs, SIGNIFICANTLY better pedal feel but the stopping power just feels soft/sluggish in these things to me....).

i feel like the 460 breaks are better, the rotor is thicker and the pistons don’t stick.
Helps with the bigger tires.

I recommend using the LATCH hooks. In the GX it will be off-center towards the passenger side some which also aids in you being able to reach the baby from the driver's seat.

Thanks! We're new at this and I appreciate the tip. Thankfully she likes car rides so far, and I hope that sticks because we're having serious camping/wheeling withdrawals.

I upgraded a while ago to stainless front and rear including from the body to the axle with EBC greens all around. The stopping power was vastly improved but I also had a seized piston in both front calipers so that was a given. The stainless lines definitely helped since now I can rest my foot on the pedal and it starts to slow down. More aggressive brake pads like the EBCs also play a HUGE part in this so if you just go with generic ceramic pads like akebono don't expect this. You need to select a pad with a more aggressive initial bite if you want the brakes to feel much stronger with light pedal pressure. That said if you go with more aggressive pads, the trade off is replacing pads and rotors more frequently.

You can also look up a pet cargo liner and get something for about half price. I'm sure its not as durable but mine has lasted me over 2 years.

My license plate mount showed up so I got that installed and now I am legal on the street.

Added an iPad holder for navigation. RAM mount so it can swivel to face the passenger. Turned out pretty well.

I also added a cup holder I found at WalMart in the RV section. It fits perfectly in the factory cup holder, and makes it so that cups/bottles will actually sit in the holder, and not fall over--one of the things I always hated about the 4Runner.

I decided to address my busted cupholder and continue on my path to becoming The Woodgrain Warrior. I'm just going to see how much of my interior I can customize using hardwoods.

This is a bubinga cupholder insert with tiger flake shellac on it. I whiffed on the colormatch, but this is what I had to work with in my scrap pile...

I like it, and it holds really well. All handtools, so it took *way* longer than it should have and is not perfect, but I can at least say that's it is one-of-a-kind.

Solid hardwood or nothing, for me! Also, I am never using bubinga again. The grain flipping in that is a bitch.

Next up is the rear hatch overhead fixture for my table light, then the rear drawers. Going solid cherry on those to match the rear hatch table.

-Snaked the sunroof drains with some 16-ga wire;
-Removed the ride-height switches and dropped a cubby pocket in their place;
-added front door cubby’s to the door pulls.

Went from having zero storage to, well, still having zero storage.
