The ML system in my 2008 LS460 sounds great. Not so good on 2003 GX470.

This exactly. Also, I feel that a sound system is a “system” and not just a collection of good individual components. This is why it’s hard to replace just the front door speakers and expect the entire sound system to still be great.
I’ve had friends that spend $10k or more in a car sound system and I’ve listened to their system and it’s awesome. But they spent a lot on dynamat, amp, subwoofer, and integrating the right speakers and tweeters. They even play lossless digital music.
On my GX470, I replaced the blown front door speakers but the new ones rattle the door if too loud or too much base. I might need to dynamat the doors in the future, but maybe not.
I also fixed the foam ring on my rattling subwoofer and it sounds better, but still not a clean sound. I can hear a little rattling.
And that’s the problem with the ML system...it’s hard to replace speakers and subwooofer when the ML ones start going bad.
So, don’t assume that replacing with aftermarket speakers will dramatically improve the sound to it’s original glory. Unless you really design a new sound system.
Timing Belt, Pulleys and Spark Plugs...guess the sliders will have to wait.

They look great, are they 1/4” thick?Installed these. Pain in the ass. Had to drop gas tank skid and do some clearance on that to get the rear skid to fit. Had to use different bolts in different places to get everything to bolt upView attachment 1968543

DO you think it is possible to do this without removing the steering wheel?Took a leap today and wrapped my fugly wood vinyl steering wheel.
