Found my front right hub is not locking and decided to go through my vac lines and 4wd systems. Do any of you know if the old HPS discount code works and what it is? Someone sent it to me when I was building out my 4runner engine and I've lost the note 😅

Not sure if you have the same setup I had in the Runner. All the ADD, and the computer that drives them. I gave up and swapped a manual
transfer case and a conversion for the front axle to go manual locking hubs. Money well spent, imo.

Replaced the Taco's rear brake shoes and both drums with new parts from Toyota. Rotated tyres, greased drive shafts & U-joints. Checked Diff & transfer case gear oil.

New vs old drums. Passenger side drum was installed at factory 186,000 miles ago, driver side was replaced ~ 130,000 miles ago.

Toyota says rear shoes are good to 1MM. I'm not that confident . . .

Passenger vs driver lead shoes. Shoe on the left was passenger side installed at factory 186,000 miles ago, shoe on the right was driver's side that was replaced ~130,000 miles ago when I had a spring break and it tore up the drum.

Old vs new shoes. Shoe on the top was passenger side installed at factory 186,000 miles ago.

The runner is good, I'm working on a dyana ly151 now. It seems to be a Hilux front end as far as suspension and drivetrain. I'm trying now to see if I can decipher what pumpkin it is and if I can swap a Hilux or Land cruiser locker into it.

It has aisin locking hubs

I finally finished project “super long panhard” today.

Panhard bar came out 1.5” shorter than the drag link. Stock there is an 11ish” difference. Mounting points moved up 4.25" on the axle side and 2" on the frame side. I moved the coil perches back 1/2" for clearance. The drag link mounts 2.25" higher than stock, and obviously a front tie rod. I moved the front axle forward 1 1/4", new bump stops, 2" bump stop drops front and rear, 2" longer icon shocks, EBC brake pads, new extended brake lines, slee high steer arm, arp knuckle and hub studs, and new maxxis 37's.

Over the past few weeks I also did the same full PM service as when I bought it 70k hard miles ago, plus fixed all of the leaks, deleted the egr, put on a ported intake and had the injectors cleaned. The alternator was pretty crunchy after 223k miles, so I rebuilt that and went to a 25lb lighter battery in a new oem tray.

Now I am in the middle of putting in marlin tcase gears, then I will be building the new coastal offroad front bumper. After that, a friend of mine is putting a new exhaust on it. Should be a whole new truck for moab this year.

Looks great, you will Like the Maxxis tires.

I made some seat lift brackets for the 45. 2” in front, 1.5” in the rear. This made the difference between being able to drive this truck for 15 mins at a time to 2 hour drives bring no problem. 45 cabs are small….

Also got the tires balanced, changed the oil and then took it on a 200 mile trip to blue ridge reservoir and camping for a few nights.

On the way home it started sputtering between 1/16 and 3/4 throttle. Got home just fine, even passed a few cars along the way home. I figured it was a clogged primary jet. Pulled the access plug and sure enough - it was. Now it runs better than ever. Pretty sad that winter is coming and I will have to put this thing up for the season.

Finally installed my cheap snorkel I picked up in Vegas months ago. Still need to grab a silicone connector to connect it to the air box.
And don’t have the a pillar bracket but it’s pretty solid without.

Truck is finished. Got the 3.1 tcase gears done and built the front bumper. These coastal offroad kits fit together super nice - very good kit. Overall it has more power, runs smoother, is way more stable now with no front sway bar than it was previously with a sway bar, and the steering is excellent. Before the steering felt spongy and sloppy even with all new tre’s, now it’s 100% solid.

While I was waiting for paint to dry, I put a shock on the swing out after saying I’m going to do it someday for the past 10 years. It cams over center about a foot from closing. It’s either an old hatch or hood strut.

Nice work. So you ever going to finish the LX ?
Yeah, as soon as this trip is over I am going to get back on it. It would have been less work to finish that one than do all of this to the 80, but I’m sure it will have a lot of bugs to work out. I just bought a supercharger for it, so I’m really excited to get it going 😁
