Then you weren't driving it right :flipoff2:

X2

Heading south on I-17 between Table Mess Rd and New River Rd I've caught myself driving over ninety in my FJ62 without realizing it. But that was while ago since it left the valley spring of 04 and hasn't been back.

How long did it take you to see the 'Man" when you purchased your current 40?:grinpimp:

 your memory is pretty good when you want it to be LCP ;) lol

I think it was that trouble-making V8 that I was testing out the second day after I bought it from you. Hey, I didn't know that cop was behind me...

A bunch of yes sir and no sirs from me and with some tongue lashing from the him, the officer let me off with a warning.

Since that day I tightened the side view mirrors to stay in place and installed the rear view mirror you removed so I can see what (and who) is behind me! :steer:

Since then I have been a good doobie ~

Murf said doobie. As in brothers or as in quit Bogarting the doobie.

Skinny pedal has a lot of persuasive power to corrupt even the best of us.

I added a GROM audio BT3 system to the GX on Saturday and tested it on a trip to San Diego this week. Works great and the hands free phone microphone sounded clear. Keeps everything looking clean and stock while adding BlueTooth streaming audio and hands free phone use. The handoff works well too when receiving a call, alert or txt.

On the 80: prior to this last Run of the Month:
  • front UJoint on rear driveshaft
  • o ring on speedo cable at trans
On the way back from ROTM I was nodding off at the wheel so I pulled over at the Sedona turn off and parked under a big tree, adjusted my seat back, and took a quick 15 minute nap. Woke up refreshed and tried putting the seat back up - but the switch decided it only wanted to go down and not back up. UGH, driving with no seat back is not especially fun with over an hour and a half left of road time to get home. I stuffed a duffle bag full of clothes behind me and made it home. Diagnosed as a bad switch assy and have a new master seat switch assy on order.

ON the 40 on a recent Saturday evening: Went to a Dickeys BBQ a mile form my home and parked to go inside. Someone walked up to me inside the store a couple minutes later to point out my truck was "pissing".

Turned out that the little short hose that comes off the master cylinder reservoir down to the brake cylinder split open and drained all the brake fluid in the master cylinder within 90 seconds. With all the attempts on being proactive in my maintenance to avoid hidden issues I clearly overlooked this original little (but crucial) brake hose. It always looked fine but was obviously brittle.

Seriously, this made me stop and think. Holy *)&%* if that happened on the freeway I would've never known until I went to brake and there wouldn't of been any brakes at all. Or, it could've done this 50 miles out in the boonies.

I drove around for an hour before it waited for me to stop and walk away from it before spewing all the brake fluid out. Lucky me~

So...older vehicle owners - even if it looks good, change that little hose out. And make sure you use the right kind of hose. Brake fluid hoses are specific to brake fluid and not fuel, hydraulic, or coolant hose will hold up.

Between last week getting ready for the ROTM last weekend and today (thanks again @Saddletramp!)

Awning installed, new Kenwood ham radio installed, 10ga wire ran to new Blue Sea 12v outlet in the rear for the fridge, and Slee battery tray installed for my 31m battery.

So did you get a few days off from work? Switching wheels and tires between the two 4Runners? I like the five spoke wheels. Switched to them on my poor 99 that now just sits in a garage for months at a time.

Two days in a row off!:bounce: Also landed the copper gig and a new truck that they let me take home from time to time. I am now going back and forth from Asarco Sahuarita to Asarco Hayden with loads. $200/day and pretty much a stress free 10 hour shift.

Yes, now the tire situation makes more sense, the '99 Limited (2wd) has practically new Yokohama street treads, and the '01 SR5 (4wd) is sitting on the Pro Comps and the 5 spoke Limited wheels. I have to say, I haven't noticed any change in ride quality or road noise. These AT/Sports are quiet and I like the look of the wheels as well.

Did A/C work at Asarco Hayden. Was over twenty-five years ago. That was before the 60 was a super Highway heading out of town. It was a long haul from the West valley.

So who is driving the 99, your daughter or better half? Is the old Dodge Dakota still around?

A/C in the new Kenworth is great. Our daughter is driving the '99 till she can land a job and get her own vehicle. Thankfully the Dakota is out of my hands (it belonged to the last company I worked for).

Practicing for Riggs Flat ROTM later in July, took wife and two kids up tent camping off Hart Prairie road in my 80. Weather was perfect and Cruiser was a Cruiser. Although one of my older Nittos did tear right across the sidewall!

Just added an accessory condenser fan to the A/C system. This kit is provided by IH8MUD member LandCruiserPhil of www.landcruiserproducts.com. What follows is my post on this to the thread regarding:
How to get peak AC performance from your 2003+ 100 series
First I must thank Phil for helping with the installation in exchange for taking the photos to create an installation instruction sheet for the kits. The kit is exceptional in that everything needed for installation is included even down to the zip ties. I went with the kit that comes with the third party fan. From everything I could tell, the fan is very robust and an exact copy of the factory fan, but 100 dollars less. The two most difficult things in the installation are lining up and drilling of the bracket hole and finding a location to pass the wires, for both the power and switch, through the firewall and into the cabin. A lot of time and thought has gone into creating this accessory upgrade to the A/C system. Here in Phoenix where the temps in the summer get up to 110+ for days on end, the lack of cooling shows up even when stopped at a long traffic light. Without air blowing across the A/C condenser coils, the unit cannot keep up and starts to blow hot air. Once the vehicle is moving the system starts to cool off and blow cold air again. If stopped even for a minimal amount of time at these ambient temperatures it seems the A/C systems cooling cuts out. The fan continues to blow, but cooling stops till movement of the vehicle causes air to flow over the condenser coils. Once forward motion is achieved it takes a very short time for the cooling to come back.
Here in Arizona instances like stopping to air up or down while say a passenger or pet sit in the vehicle are moments, when the A/C quits cooling and only hot air via the fan, comes out of the vents, making it very uncomfortable for those inside. What this kit does is it causes air to continue to flow across the coils, even when forward motion is halted. Thus keeping the A/C systems cooling operational. You can set it up to run and turn off with the key. Or you can set it up to only operate manually via the switch on/off. In both instances, the accessory fan system can be cut off completely with the switch. Say during cooler times of the year when it is not really necessary. In my case, I went with the keyed engine mode, so as to not accidentally leave it on. The fan is extremely quiet and it would be easy to walk away and leave the fan on.
All in all the kit is of exceptional quality and value for anyone operating or planning to operate their vehicle in 90 to 120+ temperatures and wanting to achieve constant performance out of their A/C system.
Great job, Phil

I experienced this effect for the first time a week ago. Wasn't quite sure what was going on, but with your explanation, it makes sense that it is the same thing that happened to me. I'll be doing this upgrade too. Thanks!

Yeah, with the temperatures we are having here in the valley right now it occurs quite regularly. It is my understanding that the Land Cruiser 100's had them from the factory. That is why you can buy an OEM fan from Toyota if you prefer for this project. However, I believe the third party fan unit that comes standard with the kit from Phil is more than sufficient. At some point during the production line, the fan was dropped. For whatever reason, I am not sure. So this kit brings back the fan that originally came with the earlier models.

Nice. Yea, I ordered already from Phil. :-)
