An innovative idea to make something useful out of the ashtray. This device just replaces the ashtray with a convenient place to secure a microphone. It’s my understanding that it can be wired in such a way that the mic can also plug into the cover (where the hole currently is) if one desires.

Preparation for the Rubithon going on with the KZJ73 . Front and rear Harrop Elockers installed , wiring them up tomorrow. Front axle also got new terrain tamer birfields and full rebuild kit together with new brakes . Automatic hubs got replaced with manual Aisins

Welded some sliders up and a Coastal Offroad bumper that doesn’t except my Warn VR8 nor the 8274’s I have here so a new Amazon special is on the way .

Rust repair will be done after I get back .

I still have a lot of polishing and finish work to do on the HZJ-73, but it is looking good enough for a glamour shot.

I was able to squeeze a Warn VR10 into my Coastal bumper. Just had to trim the top plate a bit and relocate the solenoid to the engine bay between the air filter housing and master cylinder.

My Rubicon prep/Check Over just threw me a curve ball. Checking everything and noticed I needed to do rear brakes. Collapsed caliper and it is leaking 😞 ordered both rear calipers and should be in tomorrow evening hopefully.. and brake shoes were toast!

Ha , my bad as I never looked to see if that solenoid could be moved . I have another one on the way and the VR will go in the cruiser outfitters bumper in the hzj75 troopy

I have been so busy that I have not done a thing with my Land Cruiser. 😢

I found and fixed up a diesel pusher motorhome for my wife, got everything working and serviced. Beautiful unit - 8.3 cummins, kubota diesel generator, etc.

Then my son smashed his 2005 Jetta TDI for the 3rd time, and this time did some structural unibody damage and I had to tell him he really did it this time. So I pulled the motor, trans, ECU and TCM - then used the LC to haul it onto my flatdeck to take the shell to the wreckers.

I already found him a new donor car - but with "engine problems" for $1000. Going to pick it up this weekend, and see if it is repairable. If not, then I will drop his engine in. Hopefully then I can return to working on MY projects... lol.

Sorry for the issues. Great your kid is ok. Have you thought about putting that TDI into a Westfalia for you and your wife and having some fun? VW for short weekends, and your big rig for long runs?

Sometimes as parents, we can at least dream

Summertime... and the livin' is easy. Fish are jumpin', turtlenecks off and bikinis on. Or however that song goes.

Working on some ambulance half doors. Slew of inner door guts and bits incoming.

Should have washed the winter grime off it before we pulled the top.

Awesome rig.

Where did you source the bikini top from?

I thought I felt a rise in RPM's getting on my truck the other day. Have been scared to know the truth, but today I stood on the skinny pedal and was rewarded with rising revs and not rising speed. A couple of test pulls and yep, not enough clutch. A quick call to Roark at Terrain Tamer US and an HD clutch kit on the way. We are planning to put the Alucab camper in and go for a Michigan UP trip over the 4th, so time's a wastin! SO glad I love this truck so much, I forget how much it has kicked my butt

Georg and Roark for the win.

I wonder if those flanges can be replaced with Aisin freewheel hubs ? Would be ideal to flat tow the troopy behind the RV
Interesting thought! You can take a look and take some measurements on Rubicon. RCV has them now. I called and was going to have them make me a spare set of shafts .

There was a guy that showed up at Jimmy's barn (@CenTXFJ60 ) when I was there and he had a 60 with a FF rear and Aisin hubs on the back. We didn't get a real clear answer on how he did it, but pretty sure that was the same setup you are talking about. Pretty sweet.

Thanks, that is not a bad idea at all! My thought on putting the motor into another shell was to save my son $$$ as he is in college. But... if the "engine issues" this other one has are minor things then I will fix it up and we will have a spare engine. The challenge would then be to find a donor westfalia for a reasonable amount. It seems for the most part like they have gone cult status like a land cruiser and demand premium dollars.
