Not really doing, but planning. Motor swap is golden, now on to the build. First, some infrastructure planning. Think I can sneak in an inverter (front), ARB compressor (over wheel well) , and water filter (back) in the aluminum panels. Will probably locate the DC to DC converter in the panel with the inverter. I've been waiting two months for a National Luna fridge, but it is nowhere in sight, so I thought I better get other stuff going. Fridge will mount forward of the wheel well. Small sink towards the back. I'm planning on welding up a stainless 20 gal or so water tank that will fit behind the seats. Battery will be behind passenger seat. Trying to think about keeping weight forward of the rear axle. That ARB is kinda heavy. Might try to get it further forward too. So passenger side will be all that stuff. Driver side will be bench and storage. I'm using the 80/20 stuff that Paul put together, but I'll narrow and lower all of it, so lots of cutting in my future.
Also started the gauge cluster and switches for heated seats.

Scored some used Kenda 35x10.5 Tires. My old 33's were fine but you know how that goes...

I feel like the 10.5 is the perfect setup for these trucks. I know most people have to move the axle forward a bit on these to get a 35 in there. I'm unsure if this has already been done on my truck from a previous owner, but no rubbing at all.

What is your rim size? Thanks

By the way you are very considerate of public property ... putting down a drip pan on a public street.

[never mind this might be in front of your home or a friend's and you want to avoid an oil stain. ]

@LDowney These are oem FJ cruiser wheels. 17'' but unsure of the width/offest. I should also mention I'm running 1.25'' spacers.

Yeah she leaks a bit. But instead of fixing the leak, i just buy new tires.

Thats in front of my house and I'm just trying to not be the cousin eddie of the neighborhood.

I changed out the oil pressure sending unit on my HZJ77 today. The dash gage was reading very low pressure. $35 later I put in a new sending unit and she is reading in the normal range again. That's a relief.

If you are thinking your engine is high mileage and low oil pressure, consider a fresh sending unit before a rebuild. For reference, my truck has 385,000km on it.

Installed my first prototype of a stainless inner panel on my 75 tailgate. Super happy how this came out. Looks sand and makes for a nice woking surface on the back of the truck. We will be putting these up on our website soon.

Nicely done! Stainless is fantastic. Some stainless are food grade, so you can wipe it with windex and put food directly on it. I did the same on my 80, as 2 panels that open, so I can use it for storage of all the kitchen stuff. I tried recovery, but ended up too heavy.

Changed out instrument cluster cover. Night and day difference, feels like a new truck 😆

Started the teardown for a knuckle rebuild on my buddies 87 BJ73.
IMG_2707.webp

He has all new rotors and calipers to install while I’m there. Having a real hard time separating the old rotor from the hub.

Any suggestions? Already took some heat to it. Tried using the old studs/lugnuts to pound on. Also tried screwing the two bolts that go in from the backside in almost all the way and hitting those with a brass drift. Maybe I need to find a press?

Nice looking LJ; a little crusty underneath.

Yep, needed to use a press on mine and get the stud install tool from Matco.

Got stuck into the knuckle refreshment. Rotors, calipers and studs all getting replaced. For now I'm mostly just taking stock and seeing what parts I should start gathering.
Also cut off the wire rope fairlead rollers for the winch. Adding an offset fairlead from Slee that should work vetter with the ARB bumper.
AC is out. Curious to see how it runs without it. That's if it even starts with all the wiring I removed along with it.
