Hated how hard it was to take the roof bars on and off, so I got screw bolts twice as long and now I can just unscrew the gutter clamps enough so it all stays together. Only had these on for 3 months this time but lots of dirt and debris in between the roof rack mount and roof, this is your friendly reminder to check to prevent rust!

Also while I had them off I shortened the bars and added some tie points, cheers

I’ve run Toyo tires on virtually every Land Cruiser I’ve owned for the last 10+ years so it seemed only natural to continue that trend. I installed a set of Toyo RT’s (285/75/16’s) on my current Cruiser but only after approximately 27,000 miles, was disappointed with their performance (a first for the Toyo brand).
I pulled them today and installed a set of Milestar Patagonia AT Pro’s. I’ve never run this brand of tire so it will be interesting to see how they perform over the long haul. They do have an impressive warranty.

I currently have a set of Toyos on the 40 and they are clearly wearing away very quickly too. If you are willing to share updates on your new Milestars, I would be interested in how they treat you.

It’s my intention, to bring it back to Windrock this fall, so I should have an update by then.

Two weeks ago, I took my annual trip down to Southern Arizona's OLC 4x4 to have @OGBeno work on a few projects on ol' Burro. Began the "long way" drive home yesterday, sticking to as much dirt as possible and found some nice camping... No snow up high, unfortunately, but plenty of sunshine (and wind).

Bride took her Audi on an out of town trip, so this left open space in the garage. My BJ70 gets to spend the night in the garage next to my bride's FZJ70. Small thing but it was worth taking a picture (to me at least, lol)

It's why I have 4 roofracks hanging in the carport! 2x for the Land Cruisers and 2x for the wife's car - they all do different jobs, but I hate the wind noise and hit to fuel economy running with the racks on.

Where in Northern NSW? Guessing coast rather than Inland, I'm Northern Tablelands/New England (just to confuse the Americans)

You are much kinder to your wife, Larry. My Land Cruiser is the only vehicle in the shop/garage unless I am currently working on a vehicle. All the rest stay outside. When she casually brought it up one time, I simply stated "I do not stick my nose into how you setup or run the kitchen"

We're still happily married, and possibly more surprising, I am still alive. 🤣

It may also help that I do all the maintenance and look after her vehicles, and the house...

Congratulations on being alive and happily married

Our situation is somewhat similar ... ~22 years ago when my bride found her dream house, it had an out building ... ~3200sq ft out building with brick vaneer matching the house. The house is her domain to control, including the attached garage. The out building is mine. This is an arrangement that normally functions very well, so no complaints from me. {No AC or heat or even insulation in the out building, so I sweat through the summer then freeze through the winter; but always smiling in my head}

There was one disappointment for my bride; the out building was free. When we bought the place, the bank did not need to include the out building in valuing the property for the loan. Several years later she admitted her disappointment in this because her hope was the hold it over me that I got 3200 sq ft building to myself. This is still good for a laugh between us.

Yeah have to agree with the wind noise and fuel eco, I love the platforms but for all those reasons I'm staying with bars with basket (see pic in Nymbodia). It's nice to take them off easy, still can run about 150kg with 3 bars anyway.

Nice spot, love it out there, due for a trip to Tenterfield way soon - I'm Northern Rivers, 20 mins from the coast, more cows than surfers though

Tenterfield is a good spot - We've stayed at Bald Rock (NSW NPWS campsite) and also Kambuwal (QLD, Girraween NP). Prefer staying at Pyramids, they were cheaper and didn't have a Park day use fee!

Good walks on the rocks at both.

Yeah, the Tablelands/New England is a great area, some good adventures to be had without travelling too far - often feel very remote without going far! We took 3 days to travel around the Dalmorton/Nymbodia/Grafton/Dorrigo area, just about all on back roads.

Thanks for the tips I will have to head further to the border next time!

Long time no post, but I have been enjoying the fresh engine! The auto water pump is a great addition for a quieter drive. All dent been redented, then now it is at the detail shop for a more flashy look! Also, I received a full cab set of straps, but I am waiting for the new OEM headliner to arrive so I can install it while doing the weatherstripping. Still looking for an OEM windshield.
