had a weekend unexpectedly show up, so decided to stop procrastinating on a long standing complaint....fogged windshield needed some attention, and so it received it...now its clear as ....well, glass.

So did you put in a whole new windshield or is there some way to actually defog the glass?

Where did you find the windshield? Didn’t know if there was some magical way to defog but mine is cracked and foggy as well. It is somewhere on the priority list.

a local glass and mirror place cut it for me. i gave them another windshield to use as a template. paid $120 or something like that 1.5-2 years ago for it, ive been sitting on the project for while.

Took a few months for it to actually arrive but upped my garage weld game to multi process level this afternoon.
The ol miller 211 served me well the last 10 or 11 years, however ive longed wanted more than mig at home.
Being space conscious as well ment smaller is better...so a 215 it is.

Been working on an 86 FJ60 I bought a few months ago from a post here on Mud and a referral from one of the club members. It was a two for one deal. I parted the rusty 60 and it is long gone. The one I've been working on came from California, was shipped here without a carburetor and sat for 15 years untouched. It was full of junk and took me awhile to get it all cleaned out. Body and frame are virtually rust free except for the front floors just inside the door openings- the front windows were left down slightly and water that got in there rusted the floor areas. No rust anywhere else except for the rear corners of the hood (????) and one small spot on the tailgate.
Anyway I cleaned out the intake manifold as good as could it was filled with twigs and vegetable matter. I considered removing the manifold to really clean it but decided not to as it is quite the pain in the ass on a fully smogged 60. Popped a known to be good carburetor on it and tried to start it- no go. Checked spark, has decent spark but won't light. poured some fresh gas in the carb and still no go. Checked compression and found two cylinders with ZERO! My worst fears realized I decided to remove the head and see what was going on, and I had my suspicions. Long story short(er) there was junk between several valves and their seats keeping the cylinders from building compression.
Drove down to John Merkey's place and borrowed his valve spring compressor (thanks John), removed the valves one at a time and cleaned out the seats and valve faces. Lotsa s*** in there. Yesterday I installed the head using an OEM gasket ($175.10 list price!) and got all the head bolts torqued, Today I installed the rocker assembly, manifold assembly (OEM gasket $54.03 list), carb and linkage, exhaust pipe, and valve cover and all the other shot I had removed. I was getting tired and decided to wait till tomorrow or Monday to see if she runs. Stay tuned!!!!!

Well some good news................. got the old girl fired up and running pretty smoothly today. I have no idea what is in the gas tank- gas, rust, whatever- so ran a line from the inlet of the (new) fuel filter down into a gas can than conveniently fit under the truck. Stil no gas to the carb, checked the fuel pump and no output. Looked around on my shelves and found a brand new 60 fuel pump there, an exact replacement. I even had a new small spacer and two new gaskets!!! Put that baby in and she ran on her own. The engine sounds great I'm really happy with it. There is a bad exhaust leak after the cat and before the muffler but overall it sounds and runs great.
Couldn't drive it though, when I pushed the clutch pedal to the floor I felt something giving way. Thought I might have a spare but don't, so I just ordered one from Cruisercorps. Can hardly wait to move this old girl under her own power!!!!!

I have no money and nowhere to put it but I’d love a shmuked-up FJ60
We have talked about this ... you are only looking at minivans now.
I mean a FJ60 is basically like a minivan, just without the fuel economy, luxury, cargo capacity, or safety features of a mini van. Other than that, basically the same thing.
Also - let me have my dreams. They’re all I have left.

to rub some salt in there.....the 60s are even better than the 40series.
Two days gone by and my master cylinder hasn't been received by the US postal service. I'm anxious to see if this things runs well!!!! Guess today I will try to run fuel from the tank through the filter to the carb. I have an extra filter or two in case I need them.

Take it for a drive anyway.
Well I did manage to blow air back through the fuel line and now she's running with fuel from the tank! Cleaning up some odds and ends and anxious to get the clutch master installed. Cruisercorps tells me it should be here Saturday fingers are crossed!!!!!
Start it in gear and bang shift it. When you hit a stop sign, pull neutral and turn the key off. Then start it in gear again to take off.
That’s how all these new cars with the auto-stop feature do it

I hope I don't offend anyone.... 
Some of you may know that I also own a J**p. It was my father-in-laws and I bought it from him back in 2019. He could not get in and out of it any more, and my wife thought it would be nice for our oldest to drive when he turns 16.
It had a crappy, gutless little 4 cylinder (as in the same 4 cylinder the PT Cruiser and Neon) that I have always hated....
True to form, it blew up on the way to work about a month ago and I was back to daily driving the Taco.
I was completely unsure what to do. If you have not priced cars right now, OUCH! I was not about to spend $20k on something I hate, and I need to have something that can haul the kids when my wife is not home.
Driving home from somewhere a few nights later I spotted something I had forgotten about - my Jeep's twin that had been abandoned in front of a nearby house for as long as I could remember.
I knocked on the door, and the owner said he would be interested in selling it. It is a year older than mine and is the same color. It is a "Sport" with the 4.0 engine and D44 rear axle. He wanted to get at least $500 for it, we settled on $1000.
The interior was GROSS. The PO was a bit of a hoarder, smoked, and the interior had been wet for quite some time (note the rear window). It was a hot mess.
He parked it in 2019 because it would not run right. He replaced plugs and coil packs and it did not help. He bought another car and it sat there ever since.
I bought it, had it towed back to my place, and a few nights and a fuel pump later I had it purring like a kitten!
I gutted it and pressure washed it from top to bottom.
After quite a few parts, elbow grease and busted knuckles later, it "should" be ready for a test drive this weekend!
I swapped over my doors, interior, wheels/tires, installed a 1" body lift, 1" lift motor mounts, gas tank skid, sliders, new brakes and shocks all around, etc.
Still have to go over it mechanically, but thought I would wait until I drive it around a little to figure what else needs attention.
Just in time for spring!
